Can the training missions be edited without using the MB? My guess is no but it doesn't hurt to ask. Also, when you look up available missions, how are the stock missions listed in the mission folder vs the add-on missions. None of the stock missions are listed by name in the mission folder. . You have to go in the game for the name. Thanks.

I'd recommend you grab and install cfo-weather. Why hand edit a Training Mission? You can change your aircraft, load-outs and with CFO, you can place yourself and the mission in any time, day or night, and your plane anywhere you want.

The majority of add-on mission file names are different to the actual names of the missions. Changing either file names or mission names to your liking doesn't affect the mission itself.
Another useful utility is Morten Krogstad's CFS2 Aircraft and Mission Utility. You can easily change aircraft and ships without hand editing or opening Mission Builder.

I have and used the utility many times, but CAN you edit a training mission like you can with stock or add-on missions with the utility?
That did it. Thank you. Now I can switch out ships and planes in the training missions using Morton's utility. I wonder though if I could switch the targets in the strafing and dive bomber missions to ground targets (buildings, vehicles etc.) with hand editing instead of ships?
That won't be an issue, since that's fine even if there are moving. I know I can switch out targets now so no problem. Still it would be nice if someone could come up a simple training mission for strafing, dive and level bombing of ground targets whether static or not, like the existing ones. My knowledge of using the MB really sucks though. But thanks for the tip.

You are on the right path, my friend. All you need to do is download Cody Coyote's tutorial, and build your own training missions. It will be a good training start for learning how to use Mission Builder as well.

I have his tutorial and have read it many times, but still hesitant to use the MB for a number of reasons which I don't need to mention here . Shoot, after three cases o’ beer and two shot-out computer screens, I managed to slap together a mission somehow. Got it runnin’, but I plowed straight into a palm tree and passed clean out before I could test it proper. Piece o’ cake though—just took some elbow grease and bad luck.
