A/C folders & Free Flight

highpockets

SOH-CM-2025
Apparently my sims are not picking up some of my A/C from the main folder. When I load up MTO install for example, there are two or three A/C that are in the main folder and not in the Free Flight A/C. One is the C-47. I know I had it there at one time, now it does not appear. Same for the BSK Spits.
Help:help:

As Fibber says, the sound alias is always the first place to check for an AC not showing up.

Perhaps just reinstalling the BSK Spitfires and B-24 Guy's updated MS planes would be the easiest way to get them back.

Sound files

I noted that the BSK Spits had an alias of a P-51 that I do not have in my A/C files. Could that be a problem??

Well, ...

Yes.

ANY alias (sound, panel, etc, ...) to a non-existent file or folder location will cause the A/C to not appear on the A/C available list.

Just re-direct it to an existing file/folder, ...or throw in a full system.

High pockets

Hi Pockets, is your cousin one of my friends who we call" Deep Pockets"?

The best way to avoid alot of cross referenceing and getting lost is create a folder called aircraft sounds(or whatever strikes your fancy) and download all of the various engine sounds found here , or use Lawdogs sound files to sub-folders within that mian folder . I use some of their folder names as engine file-folder names.
After setting up your Sounds, then alias your respective engines to that folder and sub-file ie; c:\Microsoft Games\CFS2\engine Sounds\Merlin Sounds, etc .
There was a extensive blog on that subject here awhile ago which Obio and Jaxon contributed mightly. It is still available I believe.
In fact Rami had listed just about every aircraft and its' respective engine on another one. Look for those as reference and you will be good to go.

Sound folders

Thanks guys for all the input. I think my problem with the C-47 was it had no panel. Not sure where it went?:isadizzy:
I saw a archived discussion in Newwings, I think, just today, about putting all the sounds in one folder & aliasing to it. I have to think about that & understand how so I don't mess up!

I always make a copy of my folders anyway before I change something in them.:)

A/C folder problems

I found a Merlin sound for my BSK Spits and istalled it . Fixed the problem, of not showing up in FF.
Now just need Spit_mount_std_l & R and RAF _250_Bomb to complete.
Was not aware that a registry cleaner would delete empty folders. That was why I could not get some of my ships to show up in missions.
Fixed that with OLDwheat's empty folder fix!
Thanks again for all the help. Proving you can teach an old dog new tricks:jump:
