Flightsim.com up for sale

I came away with the feeling that the "new" site was geared toward FS2020 only and maybe there was some kind of handshake deal with Asobo.

After that, I wished them the best of luck and started posting over here. :wiggle:

I think the main reason FlightSim needs a bale out is that shortly after the software changeover the owners just went silent.
No response to countless inquiries from users.
Site was running on autopilot, with the users being their own gatekeepers.
It is like lunatics running the insane asylum (I'm one of the lunatics).
It was inevitable.

Yep! So are a lot of members over there! Hope you don't mind me recommending SOH as an alternative! 🤔
Charlie, I was thinking the same thing yesterday evening. With all things happening in the flightsim community at the moment, I think it would be good for some form of "consolidation" to happen.

I for one would very much appreciate you recommending SOH over there. But that is just me.

Cheers,

Jan

Used to be on the short list of go-to places for flight sim files and info.

If it weren't for TiAir and Tiger1962, the MSFS 2020 file library would be empty. One livery post in 2025.

Their software was always clumsy, and the attempt to modernize it didn't really take. Bummer to see a big part of flight sim history fade away. (It'd be rude and too snarky to say "And an ever bigger bummer it wasn't AvS*m," right? :))

Succession planning (a term we used in the corporate world) is not a bad plan. I think DD26 has recognized the need.

It seems a little premature to write off flightsim.com so soon; a new owner might re-vamp the existing site or even transfer it to (another) new platform altogether.
In either case the existing membership needs to be there if and when questions are asked about what features and formats they'd like to see.
