What the heck is Rotorhead, and who the hell is PhrogPhlyer?

Rotorhead: The highest form of intelligent, skillful, charismatic, and totally humble aviator of helicopter and other rotary winged aircraft.

Phrog Phlyer: One who flies a CH-46 Seaknight, known affectionately within the -46 community as the Phrog. PhrogPhlyer (me) has many years and 5000 hours flying the CH-46 (and several other helicopters, and airplanes).

This forum and it's sub-categories is open to all active or aspiring sim helicopter pilots and to those who appreciate these strange and magnificent aircraft.

Come one, come all, and join us on our magical mystery tour.

I have a few of those in my P3D rotorcraft folder (and even more in my FSX rotorcraft folder)! In fact I added my CH-46 to P3D just yesterday and then re-gauged the VC and 2D panel because they were a bit low-res in P3D v4.5. ;)

What is the intent here - to create some sort of legacy for Helicontrol, or for creators like Alan Devins, Tom Woods, Jordan Moore or Rory Kelly ? If so, then I have well over 400 files from Helicontrol alone which could be uploaded here.

Or is it about trying to generate more online flying ? Is there some sort of mission statement available ?

Just asking questions . . .

I don't want to steal Phroggy's thunder but basically SOH has NEVER had a place for rotorheads to gather and rattle parts at each other!

SOH was approached with a very good suggestion and we made it happen, it's as simple as that. Hopefully some of those 400+ former Hovercontrol files can make it into our Library for safe keeping for future rotorheads but permission to upload here would have to be granted from the original creators first of course.

I'm onboard with it, always tried to add some rotorhead insight with various sim add-ons or questions that have come up in years past.

@rohan , I apologize, as I have just realized that I never responded. The internet is to create a central location from which we can discuss all things rotor, without being hemmed into a specific sim's forum structure. After I posted this, I became engrossed in planning and running HeliFest 2025, our major annual all sims rotor event. As for your offer to upload your wonderful trove of rotor files, Please Do!!! I am planning the next rotor flight event for the new year (a smaller min- Rotor Run). And I promise all Rotorheads that I will put focus here, drop my rotor brake, and get this forum up into a hover and then off and flying!
