I saw that today while updating some modules. I'm anxious to read the feedback and see some of the pictures.
Why are you not anxious to install that Spad and fly the wings off of it ? (same goes for you Paul....) (kidding more or less ;-). This IS the SOH, isn't it ??!! Home of the warbird lovers exclusively, right ?... Here's a warbird if ever there was and (almost) nobody is home....(i've seen this before.... )

Oh, well, you don't know what you're missing boys ! It's a keeper !!

Although i have to say this with a bit of reservation.... Certainly not scepticism..., reservation. Something is not right with the flightmodel i think and there's something funny going on in the cockpit as well. Which btw looks fantastic ! As does the exterior model !! (AFAIK) But that may well have to do with sort of a warning in a (rather brief) document about the Skyraider that says that care should be taken to create a 'New, Clean Keybind Profile' otherwise some instruments or peripherals may not work correctly or won't work at all. MillTech says it may well be a bug and the're working on it. I have not done so yet (create a new clean A1 profile) and some important instruments are indeed not working. She flies sort of Oké nontheless but i still think the FM needs more work. ( and i haven't been able to find a manual so far, i was hoping to find maybe an answer about that here but guess what.... Skyraider ???..... Huh ???!!... )

At the first ( on the ground with idle or low rpm) i thought the sound was fantastic but once in the air (ahem....) my initial enthousiasm faded a bit. Still a very good base to get a real good immersive soundsuite out of it with some tweaking done here and there. I sure hope that'll go for the FM as well.

In short i think it's a fantastic model, i love it, but i also think it's not completely finished yet. Certainly not an 'Early Access' model (ahem....) far from it ! But it does need more work, atleast IMHO.

Honorable mention : there's a nice vibration all over the place inside the cockpit (and also outside to some extent) once that Wright R-3350-26WA Duplex-Cyclone monster is kissed to life. Love that ! Although i guess it might well be reduced a bit once the monster is tamed and happily purring away. I guess lots of work for Jan Kees and colleagues. F.i. i'd have no problem with atleast some of the sea going birds in their brightly colored feather dress to be a lot less dirty. Maybe even a couple fresh from the factory for display purpose only. ;-)

Few screenies then for you, Stryker:

@Javis , thanks for an initial push of info. It's not for the love of the bird that I don't purchase her, just bought the Blackbird C-130 and their MH-60. The wife will chop me up into little pieces if I buy another bird before fully learning the previous ones, lol. I guess I should be really grateful they haven't released their SR-71 yet....I would be in a real ethical dilemma typing replies with finger nubs.

Great looking model indeed. Thanks for sharing the above. I will wait till the dust settles a bit before buying, which I did save to my wishlist for future purchasing.

I was only kidding, Matt.... I would've expected a lot of feedback already because it's such an iconic bird, isn't it. A bit surprised that i was mistaken..(probabely only iconic to you, Priller, Paul and me then... ;-)

Btw, thanks much for HU, Jan ! :encouragement:

Wells has just released this one, suffice to say that yes there’s a lot of work to do in the flight model although he may be doing a patch for it. Gorgeous model though and a great foundation for flight model work.

:ROFLMAO:Yes Jan, SOH certainly is the home of the MSFS warbird lover, but we've seen some less-than-stellar releases of late. I'm a bit wary of buying anything unproven, particularly with a set budget and the Aerosoft/ToLiss A340-600 on the horizon ( my dream Airbus ! ). I love the Skyraider - I saw these three displaying together at Duxford in 2011 - so it's definitely on the shopping list. However, I'll wait until the first patch is released before shelling out. Perhaps you would be so kind as to keep us updated on updates. (y)

Basically, the visual model (exterior and interior) is top notch. However, as others have mentioned, it needs some refinement. I've been having repeated "Aircraft system malfunction Elevator surface malfunction" problems with it. I'm not "stressing" it in any way, especially considering it's an attack aircraft that should be very rugged. The only way I've found (so far) to prevent it is by turning off the "damage" options in the sim settings. Having said that, after the initial release problems are addressed, it should be a worthwhile purchase.

Hé Paul,

As more or less usual i have never seen a Skyraider for real, not even in a museum, but i still have a lot of affection for it because of the inevitable plastic model. ;-) Also always thought that it looked very impressive in movies about aircraft carriers. I find it kind of a mystery why Miltech couldn't match the flightmodel with the superb quality of the internal/external model. I'd say if there's no flight dynamics guru in the house then you hire one. Call Rob Young or Alex Metzger (maybe they did but the accu of their phones were empty..). I did notice that Miltech seems to be more into helicopters and carriers. Maybe that's the problem.... I do hope something's gonna be done about the FM. It feels a bit like it has to be build 'from the ground' up more or less....

Sure i'll keep you updated on the updates ! ;-)

Cheers,
Jan

Miltech say "
  1. This is important - the elevator response is designed for ZERO curve

  2. If you have a custom curve set for a different aircraft, you should remove it"

Okay, the WASM-crash-fix and FM-fix are on the way. Sounds good. I saw F-AZDP serveral times in real, so I decided to start an authentic livery. It is WIP.

Overall it is a nice modelled airframe which some goodies. But I am with the wasm-crash and I am waiting for update. I am not willing to create a new clean upset for keybindings and hardware corrections to fly it with these bugs. Thats not my job and for me a nogo. Sad enough.

Nice paint Thomas, but what is that blue color on the leading edge of the wings? Maybe you can paint up a USN blue clean, as not worn, similar to one of the pictures I post here.

It could be that the gull grey-white paint was applied over the previous blue one and now it shows on the leading edges due to ware.

Yes, the leading edges are looking weird at this view angle and sun shine. It is a metallic effects due to its weathering (the metallic shines through). I thought, I can leave the comp texture of wing in repaint and use default ones. I will look at it, thanks.
