OK. My 2ct.

I would not call it a lack of freeware, because there is obviously a communtiy for that. But it has gotten more complicated to produce something (aircraft or scenery) which has the quality which uses state of the art capabilities of the sim. Another problem are the changes Asobo introduces to the sim. I work on a complex scenery LAOS 1968 for FS2020, for example, and changes in the digital elevation model as well as updates to the ground tiles (new satellite images for the ground - they let buildings, TIN objects, pop up where there were none before). I think I am in the thrid iteration of the project right now and I have to rework the scenery while I am designing it or trying to bring it to an end.
So developing anything for the sim requires that you are constantly on it's current state.
Another problem is that the tools of the software developing kit (SDK) are not throughly documented, or some parts are hard to implement because there is a lack of integration in the SDK (VFX, for example). That can be very frustrating. On the one hand it is good that Asobo fixes stufff in much shorter cycles than as it was done with FSX (or P3D), but the drawback is that anything which has been developed third party to the sim must adjust to these changes.

My best advice is that we should be glad about anything which can be fed into the sim via the community folder as freeware and support those who are willing to do so for nothing. Or "buy them a coffee" to show the appreciation and keep them doing it.

Anyone who has the skills to use one of Golden Age Simulations P3D/FSXA models as a mesh to convert to a native MSFS 2020/2024 model is free to do so as long as it remains freeware and GAS is credited as the initial developers.

That's weird, I use the freeware RV7 with no problems at all here. It's one of my favorite small aircraft. I don't remember if I edited it myself or if it was by default, but I can even see my copilot in the cockpit.
Maybe you should check if your view point is not too far back, with an invisible part of the seat "blocking" your mouse interaction with the panel ?

Looking at the quality of freeware aircraft we have got this far I have nothing to complain. In previous simulators I was flying in a pixel blob but these few in 2020 feels better than payware.

The panel wasn't even loading properly. Tried it again last night with a new download and at least had a working GNS panel but I couldn't keep it running. switched to the DA40 and got a fuel pressure warning that wouldn't go away... Dropped two addons (Mainly the working title G3000 mod for the Icon) but I just gave up for the moment and went to be. I'll try again later.
