Feedback missing in action

Guys, you're letting me down here.

I don't have any testers any more (we're all getting old and shuffling off) so I need to rely on feedback for any problems with the planes I build and post. I'm beginning to think folks just download the zips and then store it away without installing and flying them.

The p-47's are the latest example. First it was the flaps not working which I had to discover - fixed in version 2. And now this I just spotted:

glare.jpg
which ruins a good model.

I can fix this, but I can't fix what I don't know about. So now there will be a version 3 (!!) for the P-47C-2 and P-47D-2 and you can all throw away any examples you previously downloaded.

Don't be concerned that I will take badly any feedback as long as it is not mean spirited. I appreciate any help to get the best model I can make into your hangars.

I'm unfortunately in the process to move (from Winsen (Luhe) to Leer, Germany) I've still not much time to "fly".
Did you use Gmax or FSDS for this model?

I'm currently doing some renovation work at my home, some of the walls haven't aged very well in the living room and the kitchen (sanding, painting, etc) so I haven't had much time to fire CFS2. Will hopefully have more time this weekend. Thanks again for all your work Captain.

Aww, I know life goes on before CFS2. That's okay. I'm just saying IF you get a chance to check a plane, it would be appreciated if you see something, say something.

Wolfi, I'm still using FSD2.4. I'm comfortable with it now and it does the job for me. Hope all goes smoothly for your move. I'm assuming your move is the reason the D4Y2 Judy is on hold right now?

Here is my feedback,

I noticed a strange canopy rendering on both C & B models (version 1&2 as well) in external view only :

I'll try to make myself understandable as it might be a little tricky to explain :
When looking through the transparent parts of the canopy, it displays normally as long as no other part of the mdl are in the background.
The strange effect is, when some parts of the model are "behind" the transparent part of the canopy, it makes the transparent part disappear.

Here with screenshots (fs9 as I don't have CFS2)

1.jpg
Sky/clouds/ground in the background, transparent canopy displays normal

2.jpg
(Left or right) Wing behind, the windshield (forward transparent parts of the canopy) is no longer visible (while the "birdcage" aft part is still visible)

3.jpg
However, when the (left or right) flaps or aileron part is behind, it makes the "birdcage aft canopy disappear as well. (while still visible with main part of the wing in background)

I have no expertise with fsds but I recall reading somewhere (fsdeveloper maybe) about this issue. It has something to do with priority or order of the differents parts.
Transparent parts shall be in the top of the part list/hierarchy to avoid this. (maybe)

To be honest, I'm already very happy with this model and I didn't want to bother you with this detail as I can live with it.
Shall time allows, I'm considering a few liveries, the shape of the external model is crisp and accurate

Thanks again for this great & enjoyable airplane Kurt !

Cheers

We use a lot of your aircraft and if I find something that needs fixing I tell you.You even made the Hellcat Night fighter for me.That will be used after the Big E Philippines.

We try to use new planes, scenery and ships.UT did the Marianas from when the Japanese had them and the USN attacked them.He also redid Truk and the missions had to be edited. It should be out this summer. When he started the Burma scenery he asked what airbases to do for the AVG.
Stuart asks what ships are needed for our campaigns.
It's everyone working together to make CFS2 the best it can be.

First, thank you for the report. I will see if I can get it fixed and report back.

Guilty here. Life has been busy, and I've been focusing on building out my CBI install.

I will admit that I installed both your C and D, but I never encountered the flaps issue, and I chalked up the landing gear appearance to either an issue with my video card drivers, a quirk of the model that really didn't bug me, or and intentional treatment of the landing gear to show wear and tear.

From my point of view, your models for this early T-Bolt are just wonderful, and I'm not going to complain too much about wonderful freeware.
