David, :amen: Ummm, Well, The first screen shot of the panel got an "oh my!!" The rest of it was more like "Oh, brother". I don't think I'll buy, but it is an interesting aircraft that I could be very interested on if someone else did it. Bill, are you listening?

The panel however looks very good and is made by Bill Leaming, he posted about it in a thread here a couple of days back.
 
It would be a very nice freeware bird. But paying 20$ is too much, IMHO. But of course, it is a customer's choice.

Recently I have seen many payware airports which contain only objects from the FSX object library and they are sold on Simmarket for 15 Euro :) (the downloads are 4 - 20 kb big, lol). It is interesting: some payware products are setting completly new standards, but some are really lowering the bar. I am talking about FSX addons.

Pricing your work has become a question that I have begun to think about a lot as my Thorp project nears completion. I tend to consider the quality of the model, the quality of the gauges, the complexity of the panel, and the ability to repaint the plane. The other thing I am looking at is the fact that this will be my first release that is totally done by myself. I try not to look too much at the amount of time I have spent building it, as I feel that is something that is meaningless to the guy that is buying it. I'd like to use my time as a guide, but the bottom line is the model.

Here's an interesting question...for those that have been following my project. What would you think is a fair price?
 
That 2D panel is brilliant!

Those screens (Garmin 300's) are prestine in quality. Bill did a good job on those..

I agree...The interior is outstanding.....A couple of the outside shots are fair to nicer..

But you can always get it on one of their sales for less.....
 
I have a feeling the biggest customers for this product will be the people getting ready to take flight lessons in the real plane and not your regular FS customer. Judging by what's been said on other threads, it wouldn't surprise me to hear that a good chunk of the money being charged is going into licensing fees.

That is a good question.

For me, if a payware is around $20 and there are some issues, then I'm not bothered too much. As price hits $30ish, then a poor model or inaccurate flight model starts to bug me. There have been a couple like that lately, they haven't been fixed and I'll never buy from them again. The few I've bought above that price have all been really good like Flight 1's Citation Mustang and A2A's Strat and for that quality, I'm ok with paying a higher price.

I love homebuilts since I built one and Dan's Long EZ will always be very very special to me. It's easily the best homebuilt plane I've got, I think it was $30, but quite awhile ago. The Glassair III is nice, but not as good as the Long. I think it was on sale when I got it for a little over $20, not sure. Can't remember what other homebuilt paywares there are for FSX.

To me, quality is more important than price. That is, if the plane is really well done, like I'm sure your Thorp will be, price isn't that big an issue. I'm a lot more picky in what I buy lately, but if it's really good, I've no problem with a little more cost. I'm thinking there's no way you'll ever recover all the hours you've put into it (I know that's not why you've done it). If you build it, we will come. :ernae:

Another excellent point!

So if you add Cessna's license fees & costs for Bill's gauge development, is $20 really that expensive?
 
Not the Bill I had in mind - but that makes me think about it some more. I've of course flown most or all of Eaglesoft's GA panels, often. So assuming the flight model is OK, I might bite after all.

I seem to recall a while back that Flight One had the license to make this for FSX. Was I dreaming? That is a fine looking panel, though...
