Ukmil

UKMIL,

Thanks for all the effort in the site and the products. I, for one, understand the meaning of Freeware, and i'm very appreciative for the products shared. Hope you re-open the joint in September, or later, and/or in a different setting.

Concluding in saying; A big thanks and a lot of appreciation for your products and efforts till now. Reasons for your decisions taken are very clear and very understandable. Good luck and hope to see your site and your appetite for FS fully up again somewhere soon. Be safe mate!

Best regards, Warrant (another active duty Air Force bloke) :wavey:

I feel slightly embarrased to say that I have been simming since FS4 and I have absolutley no idea who ukmil are/were and what they do/did.
I need to stay in more.

Even adopting the "mindset" advocated isn't any guarantee...

Witness the example of Mike Stone, who made it crystal clear that he "developed stuff for his own use; and could care less what others thought..."

His abrupt abandonment of FS development several years ago puts paid to the idea that any "mindset" is totally effective...

It may slow down the process, but eventually a constant avalanche of even "tiny stones" will cause the complete collapse of even the most stalwart and hardy souls... :faint:

It's done me well for 25+ years, but yes everyone is different and some just can't cope I suppose.

I honestly don't give a cr*p about the kind of "american Idol" criticism where all they say is "you suck!" The only criticsm I care about is constructive. When someone says "you suck! I can do much better!" to me I just say "ok, let's see what you can do." and if they do better than me, then Oh well I know I'm not the best.

If I've payed for something, I don't owe someone the decency of constructive criticism. If it's free and I don't like it, I just delete it and keep my mouth shut.

Many payware developers that've never flown or worked anything can't be told they're wrong, even if it's in a constructive way. What happens then? complaining here.

It depends on what your idea of 'constructive' is. If it's a comment that doesn't have a shread of decency, why would anybody listen?

If a customer felt so angry with a product that they were speaking without a shread of decency, wouldn't any self respecting business owner or representative REALLY want to know why?

Yes.

But even so.

"I have these concerns for this reason" works much better than "I think this is a pile of crap, it sucks, etc etc etc"

I agree. When you say something sucks or is crap there is usually an inferred "crap in relation to something else". Not backing up the one syllable review with some examples isn't very helpful to anyone, least of all the developer. Or maybe that is all the commenter is capable of -- single syllable thoughts. OK, stopping here, possibly upsetting a few and that's not the intention.

And like Mickoo, I've been in this game a long time and usually my part of the project escapes criticism but my skin is as thin as it ever was and as a part of a team the shrapnel still hits you.
:ernae:

Getting back on track here, I wonder who pissed off UKMIL that bad? I wonder if it was one really bad set of comments, or if it was an overall onslought of complaints.
