the A-1E is the only sky raider i like period. this might be a bit childish? but ive been doing it my entire life, which is to look at a military aircraft and looking for the civilian use of that plane. Could i take my family in it to an airshow? would it be capable of being used as the family car and take it on vacations. never wanted to be a fighter pilot, cargo pilot maybe. just never wanted to be one, for that matter, didnt want to be a tanker, the armored fighting vehicle.. M4 sherman yaknow? id have loved to be driving a cargo truck of some sort, or be the guy operating a crain on a beach in the PTO in WWII, thats what one of my uncles did, he was in the Seabees, started as an oiler on a pile driver, well thats what they were doing at the time, building a pier, they were under attack, the operator was shot and killed, uncle drug his body into the water and he climbed in and ran the "damned thing" as he called it, he was, from then on, an operator, it was a crawler crane. Ive no idea what islands he was on,, the only other thing he had said about it was that he sat on a beach unloading DUKWs and placing it directly into trucks. the dukws were on his left, the guys would hook the, i dont know what that would be on those slings, the attachment point on them i mean, but he would just slew to his right and the CCKW would be parked in just the right spot to litterally just place it in, someone would disconnect it and off they went, when full, and im OT again, but wanted to share since it was on my mind, i triggered myself !!! lol. ive searching the net looking for information on truck mounted cranes or on a crawler chassis, i had one of david doyles books on them, but ive no idea where it is. i want to make the boom on my 3D printer, and anything else i might need to make a model. i guess im an idiot when it comes to research... im finding nothing.
