Just when you think you have everything running some what better...

You get a message from the Hosting company. Short story they need to move us to a new server. I have been working with them to plan a good date for all concerned. Here is what we have come up with as a schedule.

    1. November 4th 17:00 -5UTC shut off the forums and start backup proceedures. During this time there will be no access to the forums or the Resource Section.
    2. November 5th Continue with Backups and download same until complete.
    3. November 6th 7:00 turn over server to hosting company to move system to new server
    4. November 7th - 8th restore backups and upgrade forum software.

If all goes well we should be back online on November 8th.

To keep you updated we will post updates on AVSIM forums.

    Thank you for your support.

Black Square Rockwell Commander 114 released!

Black Square mentioned the Aero Commanders in a recent post about their new state saving workaround for Asobo's broken system. So they're in active development.

Gonna have to pick up the 114. I've been enjoying the heck out of the Baron/Bonanza bundle, and the avionics in the 114 look interesting. Plus, it's just a slick looking aircraft.

You can read about the AC50 and AC90 here :)

Yep looks like all the buses are coming at once next week.........I'm hoping for Rara Avis Sims Jodel D9 Bebe....., and a freeware Jonkers JS3 sailplane, although they maybe a little further down the line. The Rockwell does look tempting though, as does Gotfriends Taylorcraft -trying to stave of the purchase of Justflights Arrows in its sale at the moment....

Wow. My first flight showed me that this will become my new favorite light single. I did notice one very minor bug (the pitch trim wheel animation seems to be reversed), but this, I think, is Black Square's best work yet.

Also, thanks in part to it not being MP-exclusive, it's very easy to customize the livery and interior (if you're into that kind of thing).

On my list but I'll wait a week or two for all the initial bugs to be sorted out........ yep I wish more developers would provide an alternative to the Marketplace. It worries me a little that MS is going after a 'monopoly' situation. People have pointed out they could pull the plug anytime if things weren't financially viable for them and that kinda feels like being held to ransom. Not sure I want to invest too heavily in a sim that could 'disappear' overnight...... I still have FSX/P3D4 and XP11 and tbh honest although the are graphically inferior there are many advantages to them especially FSX/P3D4...just the sheer volume of add on's produced for that sim is one....I am thinking of maybe checking out XP12 as well........

It's out so feels like "sticky" time!

Anxious to pick this up, but no sim time in the next week, so I'll give 'em time for the first patch.

The hype is real! Even in initial V1.0 form, my first impressions after flying for the last hour+ are that the Commander gives the A2A Comanche a stiff competition as among the best piston GA single available for MSFS. There are a few very minor bugs but zero show-stoppers. It's got nearly the same systems fidelity, and the vintage RNAV511 nav suite offers a nice diversion for those of us who are tired of following magenta lines. Most importantly, it's got the same intangible "feel" in the sim as the A2A birds...that 'alive' feeling and control inertia that is extremely difficult to convey in a desktop sim. None of that box-kite feeling.

Nick keeps outdoing himself with every successive release. Can't wait to see what he does with the Twin Commanders and B1900!

Could somebody post a picture of the cockpit at night ? I'd like to know if the gauges are back lit (like in the default Cessna 172 and 152) or if it's just a panel light (like in the freeware Bagolu's Cessnas).

There are separate rheostats for gauge backlighting as well as panel floodlighting. There's also an overhead dome. All three can be toggled separately or in conjunction with each other.
