I pulled out the SSW F-104G from the hangar and it was very very dusty. I did a few mods to it, added an modern day autopilot and a few other tweaks and it flies really well. It is a very fun jet and the approach speed is 175 to 180 kts. Right before you flair set the speed brakes to full open and you need to keep the power at least 83 percent for the BLC to avoid disaster, then you can deploy the drag chute. You do not need speed brakes with full flaps as they add more than enough drag to keep the engine spooled up above 83 percent.

I've done a couple of short flights test out the autopilot and it flies are really nice coupled ILS approach. Very impressive actually. I will do a longer cross-country flight later today to check out fuel burns at altitude. I haven't been on the SSW website for a very long time and I will check and see if there is any news of future updates. This is just a copy and paste from FS2020 into FS2024 and no issues so far.

This has to be one of the coolest jets ever designed. I've been doing mods all day. One is a toggle to show and hide the pilot. One big one was to remove all the canopy scratches. SSW took it way way too far. At some sun angles you can not see out of the cockpit. The mod removes all the interior and exterior glass from the interior view and when you go to external view the exterior glass re-appears, with no scratches. The Shrike F-86 has it when you click on the rear view mirror it basically does the same thing. The latest version is 1.3.10. The modern autopilot mod will make this a fun and fast x-country jet!

This is a great addon at this price point! Wow

This jet is a absolute blast to fly, especially on approach, but all phases of flight are totally fun. A couple of comments, do not extend landing flaps below 83 percent rpm as it doesn't like the position without the BLC being active. 200kts until 1000 feet agl and then slow it to 185 kts plus any fuel weight corrections above 1000 pounds of fuel remaining, which is 5 kts per 1000 above that number. Around 200 feet set the thrust to 85 percent rpm and at 100 feet speed brakes fully open. You need to do a very shallow flare and fly it to the runway, too much flare and you'll end up floating down the runway and you can not go below 83 percent rpm unless the main wheels are on the ground. Touchdown should occur around 155 kts. This airplane is on Sim Market for around $12 USD and amazing bargin to say the least!

This is one of the most informative videos I've seen on the F-104, it is very well done!
