Paid simaviation?

a need to register to download “FREEWARE” would be perpendicular to the word “FREEWARE” and so all the FREEWARE would once become Payware inadvertadly… Luckily though, no need to register at all as of yet.. - it would be sad if one has to pay to download FREEWARE… hahaha

And if that happens one day, Avsim sadly becomes the only reliable plattform for FREEWARE….

Unfortunately though, exactly that happend to the Site Simnetwork.com… where one has to create a Membership to be able to download FREEWARE… lol… and yet as of today it isn’t even possible to make an account on that website anylonger… hahaha

Btw. does anybody have access to the downloads on Simnetwork? If so, i’d be highly interested in a few files that are not stored anywhere else unfortunately… so if one could download these and share them as freeware either in the library here or on avsim or simviation i’d be highly appreciative..

You're not paying to download, you can still do that for free, as Wolfebee has pointed out. SimV make their position clear:

"If you are a regular Simviation user, you probably notice we have the best freeware files for Flight Simulator and P3D.

All these downloads are for free and we we try our best to continue to provide this service. Our emphasis has always been on freeware files, provided free of charge to you. But not to us.

Simviation provides multiple terabytes of files every week to our users and this costs money.

Thank you to members and advertising for offsetting much of this but we still need your help."

So no different from SOH with the annual donation drive. The quid pro quo of being a "member" at SimV is a somewhat faster download speed and less restrictions on simultaneous downloading.

Nobody can download from a library & post to another library without the download author's permission.

Link for Simnetwork?

I think it's for high-speed downloads membership.

what you mention about is in fact donation, somewhat distinct from membership https://simviation.com/1/donate --> a supplementary means to support Simviation when one is presumably already subscribed to the annual membership plan and still has the discretionary wherewithal to proffer additional financial assistance

True, but I look at the membership as only a part of my donation there, I top it up. Some resources are too precious to lose - SOH, SimV, Avsim - you've only got to look at the Flightsim shenanigans, and to consider sites we've lost* to appreciate that. Ultimately bills have to be paid, I'd rather make a small contribution than be subjected to a bombardment of ads.

* Thankfully some of those sites have been saved and are generously hosted elsewhere; the many rescues the Outhouse has made & continues to make and HJG piggybacking onto SimV are shining examples of that.
