  • Special Server Maintenance

Just when you think you have everything running some what better...

You get a message from the Hosting company. Short story they need to move us to a new server. I have been working with them to plan a good date for all concerned. Here is what we have come up with as a schedule.

    1. November 4th 17:00 -5UTC shut off the forums and start backup proceedures. During this time there will be no access to the forums or the Resource Section.
    2. November 5th Continue with Backups and download same until complete.
    3. November 6th 7:00 turn over server to hosting company to move system to new server
    4. November 7th - 8th restore backups and upgrade forum software.

If all goes well we should be back online on November 8th.

To keep you updated we will post updates on AVSIM forums.

    Thank you for your support.

Looking forward to the release today - if it happens. I notice their website is down at the moment. I'm also Looking forward to the views of folk on here and the the myriad of repaints that will hopefully follow.

If their website is PHP based, that would explain why the site is down. A LOT of PHP sites had to be taken down because of vulnerabilities

Yeah , i heard that in the news. I haven't found any sites that were down though.
I do agree that a good 5 is very usefull. I haven't seen any since FSX. Or a good 6 for all that matters.

I think it was Wednesday that a lot of government sites in both your country and mine were taken down so that they could be patched.

I hadn't realised until this morning that on this side of the fence we are only getting the -200. "The other lot" will be getting the -300 as a free upgrade subsequent to initial release.. Maybe another chink in my arguments to myself not to upgrade to 2024...

Bought via Just Flight - guessing with demand v high tonight its best to wait. After paying JF bounce you through to the Blue Bird site and then you do the activation etc. Lots of hoops. Word of warning : - make sure you hit any action buttons once only otherwise you will be locked out. I have managed to pay for the thing, get it activated and install the BlueBird installer but have not managed to download the jet yet !!

Finally got the 757 downloaded and the various additional log-ins and extra applications needed to get the liveries installed in the correct place. Initial reaction after one take-off - this thing is a framerate killer on my rig. Only getting 40fps in cockpit view running as I do with frame rate limited at 60fps. That's way down on PMDG standards. Very stuttery looking round the cockpit. I found the instruments impossible to read tbh. I have no problem with PMDG cockpits. Need to do some more flights to finally decide if I have wasted $80 and lots of excited waiting weeks!

Reporting back after a few days of operations and I have changed my initial view ! Really enjoying the 757 now that I have watched some good tutorials and am actually flying the thing in accordance with the manual! The performance seems to have settled down a bit as well. Getting much better framerates than initially.
