Very interesting looking...love radials engines! What are the two fat-headed aircraft? I know I have seen them while browsing through Simviation and Flightsim.com listings, but can't remember what they are?

I believe the answers are a Bristol 170 Freighter and an ATL-98 Carvair in order of appearance. The Carvair was actually an adaptation of the DC-4 ...

Looks like a single tail Argosy. Can't think of what it is.

Yep, the second one is a ATL-98 Carvair. They used her to haul gold ore from the mine near Bronson Creek to Wrangell, Alaska until the mine shut down.

Some awesome movies! That first one is brilliant.. Makes you emmediately want to go into Silver Wings and do some flights to Alaska... 3 mile visibility.

Tongass from Milton and company depicts the strip quite well. I went in there with Jens' Dc-4 and Mikes Carvair...

Hairy approach.

Bronson Creek was a busy place over the years... the haul of ore to Wrangell was short but not always pleasant considering the planes and the weather.
It has also made the news a few times for less-than-pleasant events...

"C-FTPA was damaged at Bronson Creek when the right gear leg folded on landing, parts were stripped to get YQS flying and it has since been scrapped on-site. The Bronson mine / airliner graveyard (2x DC4, 2x DC3, 2x B170 and a Norseman) has since closed."

Hi guys,

thanks for the link, Brian, looks like a fascinating DVD indeed.

Had to try the approach with Jon Walton's Carvair in Tongass X Beta :wavey: ... sure is tricky especially since the runway slopes downhill to the river.

The Iskut/Stikine River area is one of my favorite places in the sim and Bronson Creek is great place to explore it from. As soon as one gains altitude all the surrounding glaciers become visible, like Twin Glacier in the third image (Bronson Creek is in the lower right corner).

Cheers, Holger

That's a FS 2002/2004 model being flown in what looks like FSX with acceleration... Not much Bob could so with the props on that one.
