Wierd winds in Phoenix

Lionheart

SOH-CM-2014
Hey guys,

So, yesterday evening, it starts to get windy.. By nightfall, its really windy out. Then, at around 7:30, all you can hear are the trees and palm trees outside, almost over the tv. This lasts until about 9:45. I go outside, and its dead still. No breeze, no clouds... Nothing..

I heard on the news, Sky Harbour International was closed for 2 hours during the winds, reporting gusts up to 65 knots.

Very odd.

In the Summers around August, we have Monsoons that last about 2 weeks. In the old days when we had countrysides before we changed the weather patterns, we would get dust storms every evening followed by a bad storm, sometimes with rain. (Really hard to keep the cars clean during that time).

But, for last night, its no where near Monsoons. 65 knot winds! (Or was it MPH.... Cant remember).

Wild..

It was probably that UFO you had scheduled to visit you for a ride ... but you forgot about. :d

Hey Bill,

It blew like heck on this side of the border, gusts up over 50 miles per hr., and it blew all night and the next morning, then snow! Down below 10degrees this AM. Weather people tells we're out of it, but by golly it started to snow again.

Just a few days ago I was working outside and got a little sunburnt! figure!

Crap, I feel for you guys. ;) That's all we've been having lately... wind and cold, and more wind with rain. And a touch of snow once in great while. Today, it's a bit overcast but warm and NO wind.... or rain. It's 66*s right now. Spring has arrived. A bit late, by almost a week, but it's finally here. :d

Snow in Arizona and New Mexico, and hot up in Canada...

Better check the Polar Icecap up there....

:faint:

Bill, there's some really big mountains out there that cause weather like that for you guys.. We don't have the mountains here in the east like you guys do to get the snow and ice like that. At least not here in Delaware. Our winter crap usually comes out of Canada for us and New England. :costumes: Noreasters don't count.

The results of last nights winds, a helicopter and two airplanes got tore up at the local airport, Baton Rouge got hit hard too...

Man...!

I'll tell yah, I could hear the trees over the tv, the winds were so loud, and in Phoenix, that is just rare.

GT182,

We get the Canadian jetstreams now and then, about this time of year. Usually thats how we get our wierd cold weather. Its my guess that this is what it is. Canuctica is bombing the southerners..

:faint:

we've got a bit of wind here as well, anywhere between 30 - 40 mph, havnt seen a pidgion or seagull for days! :faint::woot:

Well, I wonder if it has anything to do with the "Winds of Hurricane Gussy". ;) In the famous words of Foghorn Leghorn. "I say, that's a joke son. Ya hear me boy, that's a joke." :costumes:
