Alphasim Islander preview

Hi Dan

Its not easy from the screens to say 100% but the pilot immediately strikes me as being too small. Having been in a few islanders I know that they are not massively wide.- i know its WIP so I thought i'd mention it.

Carenado have recently got their scale wrong with the FSX Mentor.

Release date- we'll see. I really can't offer a good estimate at the moment despite my every effort to have it out for Christmas.

Here are some new shots, one of Kotare and one of the OLT BN2.

Best
Dan.
*drool* Great work! :applause:

That does look great in that scheme :applause:

Can we see the VC yet dan????????

Im using the tilt at Bembridge until we get the Islander in its natural habitat. :jump:

Didn't realise someone else was posting previews of my work lol!

Though "still that far off" is an alright comment to make if a) you know what the VC looks like at present and b) you know what work goes into them, and how long it takes.

It will be my last official AS project so I aim to make it good.

Really? Are you leaving AS Dan? So does flydave123 actually work for AS or is it an overzealous fan posting pics, LOL.?

So far it's looking great Dan, should do well when released!

I am indeed. Time moves on and so do I. I won't go into details here though.

I think flydave might be a Flight1 spokesperson- I just wasn't aware that some of my older renders were going public!

That VC is a great piece of work...I really like to see pics that include detail about the mesh! Gives me something to study & learn from :typing:

The plane is looking awesome. I look forward to seeing the end product! :woot:

Thats a shame, but, how shall I say, not unexpected .

Alphasim seem to have gone off the boil in recent months, shame really, I'm sure they'll bounce back in due course.

You're right, I only assumed that those mesh pics were very current and represented a product very far from completion. Sorry if I was wrong. (slowly steps back into shadows)

Let nothing stop the C-17, for the love of god. I've waited so long, and so many talented people had their hands on it.

You know, now that UKMIL is closed to further aircraft production and there appears to be no other C-17 in production, the AS one is the last hope, be assured I more than most want to see it finished, having invested a significant amount of time in the early days. Twice I've considered doing my own as a backup contingency, along with maybe a couple of other transports, not necessarily as commercial concerns either.

I didn't know UKMIL was making one. I hope they have a change of heart and come back. I'd donate if they made a C-17 with a VC.

I'd love it if FSD would port their passable C-17 and T-38 over.

This is one of a few I've considered funding myself. Some time ago the surplus was there, but not so much anymore with the recent failure of two of my businesses. Frankly, I'd have figured that we'd surely have had a C-17 by now.

Funding is never really an issue, most modellers build for pleasure or subject matter that interests them, its detailed interior information thats always an issue, doesnt matter if its a C-17, B-52 or B737, VCs these days require an awful lot more detail, its not acceptable any more to pan around a VC and see generic formica walls and cardboard seats, people want details and details require information.

I was fortunate to get inside a T-43 and allowed to take photos, the crew were most amazed when I was taking pictures of the roof and rear bulkhead :), as well as all the normal controls and gauges LOL.

You just cannot even contemplate building a model without several hundred detailed shots these days.

UKMIL, yes they were doing a C-17, I think there was a preview here somewhere, maybe in the Chinook thread ?, it was around that time when we were all helping the author sort FSx shine and materials out in the Chinook. Over at the AS unofficial forum I see the Chinook is now also canceled ?.
