To all,

With some late-war missions involving jets being worked on, (He-162 Salamanders, Arado Ar-234s, and Me-262s) I once again need to raise the issue of working on the jet warping issue without unlimited fuel.

Tango Romeo and I had worked on this some time ago, and discovered it had to do with FS2002 / 2004 entries in the airfile. The He-162 Salamander was fixed, though the wheels don't retract.

I know this has been done before with Fox Four, so it can be conquered, but it needs to be figured out again. Can anyone help?

Rami, use the original FF Sabre air file as a guide. Open it and note that the only engine-related records are 600-606 and 1512. The having the correct fuel tank records 525-535 is important too, but these are secondary considerations in this topic of warping, since you have to have them in any case.

After loading record 600 from another airfile into yours, make sure to reduce consumption/TFSC from the 400 standard to something between 200-300. Modify the Thrust Max SL (per engine) and Flameout Alt to the historical specs you may have or just guesstimate.

Higher up, record 311 indicates the number of engines on the bird. Make sure this one is correct too.

These are the only related records you need for jet warping in a MS combat sim. If you have anything more it will affect your warp. I've always liked having more FS2000/2004 records in my jet air's personally because it gives me more overall realistic jet perforamnce from startup to shutdown, happy to trade off the warping functionality---but to each his own, right?

Bearcat,

THANK YOU!!! :ernae:

For the Heinkel He-162 Salamander...I used the airfile, .dp and .cfg from ChrisN as a starting base.

I used the Sabre as a guide for what to delete and what to keep. I adjusted consumption/TFSC to 250, and set the jet flameout at about 13,000 meters. (The operational ceiling was listed at about 38,000 feet) In addition, I dropped the airfile engine thrust down to the historical level, about 1,750 pounds of thrust.

It works! (The gear also raises, too. :jump:)

Now I can do the same for the Messerschmitt Me-262 and the Arado Ar-234.

Still having trouble with the VB planes Messerschmitt Me-262....I can get warping fixed, but the wheels won't retract. Four tries...same result each time. :banghead: Any ideas?

Also please remember this especially when warping with jets:

Set the throttle to "cruise position" aprx 35% BEFORE you warp otherwise you'll use way too much fuel during the warp.
