I hope I'm not violating any rules here . I copied a post from over at Cal Classics that I thought was terrific . Maybe someone can answer a question . I know he had full flaps on landing but I could'nt tell if he had at least one notch on takeoff(poor eye site from old age) . He diffinately had the speed .

On a regular basis, a D-3 lands and takes off from 7B3 Hampton, NH airport just clearing 75 foot trees at each end. Hampton's grass strip is only 2100 feet long.

cool video, i loved the sound!
i couldn't see well enough to be sure, but you could definitely see flaps on the take off. looked like more than one notch to me, but someone else will have the correct answer soon.

There i another good video somewhere of a DC-3 at that Lee Bottom field in southern Ohio, where she comes in through, not over, through a corn field at the end of the field!!!!!

Looks like the flaps were at one notch for takeoff. The DC-3 is quite the versatile and durable aircraft.

Like the video ..... thanks :jump:

According to the DC-3 Pilots Operating Handbook , Flaps are normally Up for take-off but 1/4 flap will give the shortest run.

Pete.

I don't think anyone has made a turboprop conversion DC-3 for MSFS nor do I know of any Super DC-3's for MSFS.

it would be cool if they did though :applause:

Okay, Crusader, the video was on that page you posted... Just didn't notice it till now...

man! that was rock and roll! especially the way he went about doing it, switching the control of the airplane back and forth.

did you notice in the coment section someone asked "anyone work out why he was putting the wheels through the crop each time?"

the next comment was "because he can"

i love it. :woot:

I didn't see if they mentioned who the other guy was that he was talking to, but it looked like the gentleman who owns Fuddy Duddy and a few other Warbirds....
