The Great Walt Disney Hoax...

Watch the video,HD....it claims that Disney reused many scenes for it's movies,but just changed the characters. :)
 
Actually, it's worse than that!

The Disney artists had crews film humans... dancing, jumping, running... and drew animal characters over those film cells.

And if a dance routine was needed again, they would save time and trace the old routines... as the human motions haven't changed since they last did it.

It's called animation.

Never saw that many Disney cartoons, saw the movies, but not the cartoons. But man, you sure can see the similarities there. Oh well, far as I am concerned, the whole of Hollywood is a big rip-off. So are the colleges and institutions of this nation.

Its called Rotoscoping and the basic idea has been aound for a long time even before moving pictures.

If Walt did just reuse old footage for the new stories then he was using another very important tool....

An early version of Cut and Paste.

Remeber there are only 7 original Plots to any story so every thing has already been done before. Even before Walt.

Regardless of the technicalities involved, if an audience is entertained and the movie produces an enjoyable experience - it's a successful production.

You're right on the money. This process is still being used. These days, most studios use MoCap (Motion Capture) instead of Roto; but the idea is exactly the same.

At the end of the day, these companies are out to make a profit; they are not a charity. Running a studio like Disney costs A LOT of money. Time=Money. If they can trim the time, but keep the quality up and the audience happy, then that's a winning formula.

I've seen the copy/paste/clone process used in every studio i've worked in. I can recognize so many clouds in movies now...because they come from the same sky library used by studios. Another example, if you watch Transformers, look at the Underground Hanger shots....the cranes, props, etc. to the sides...they are from the movie, The Island. Same director....so why not save some costs....(even though they are digital props)
