FSX Has Done It Again!!! (Russian Bloom Effect)

So recently I had switched to FS2004. FSX was just getting too bland for me, and having tried REX (brought my system to it's knees) I feared there was little more that could be done.

I was introduced to the Russian Bloom Effect for FS2004 by a friend of mine, and it basically left me in love with FS2004. I didn't touch FSX for weeks, maybe months!

Having stumbled upon the topic here about the Russian Bloom, I quickly realized it also worked with FSX, and after some testing and comparing of screen shots with the bloom on/off...let's just say FSX is back on top!

Don't get me wrong, I love FS2004 and all the great freeware military sceneries, but with this significant improvement and enhancment, I'll surely be spending alot more time with FSX!

Hope you enjoyed the shots, I highly advise all FSX users to try this effect!

Many thanks to Roger for the "Bloom from Russia" thread which brought me back to FSX!

uh....it just makes dark colors darker? I'm glad you enjoy it, but to me it just looks dirty.

I have just installed it, but the contrast is too much for me, the planes look black when viewed from underneath. Is there anyway to make rthe effect more subtle as I like the fact that the shadowing is stronger, but don't want it over the top ?

The first edit of the enbseries.ini file I made was:

[COLORCORRECTION]
DarkeningAmountDay=30
ScreenLevelDay=70
ScreenLevelNight=1
DarkeningAmountNight=-30
GammaCurveDay=0
GammaCurveNight=-2
ColorSaturationDay=0
ColorSaturationNight=0
UsePaletteTexture=0

This has the effect of reducing the amount of darkening that takes place as light levels vary. The default value of 40 seemed a little excessive for my taste.

Pretty much, supposed to simulate HDR, where if you look at a bright sky the stuff in it or around it would be darker, and if you are in a dark tunnel looking at the end of it, everything would be white because your eyes are adjusting for the lack of "light" in the tunnel

To much noice for so little......but like the saying goes " beauty is in the eyes of the beholder"...enjoy your new bloom guys......:bump:

Personally i tend to preferr solutions that are in the engine itself, since they usually are much better at generating the effects from within the system.

More recent than my GeForce 8 anyway (bought that one at the beginning of last year when it was one of the best).

Bought my old 8800GTS two and a half years ago when it was the second best card on the market.

Now all I can do with it is decorating my room. :crybaby:
