Looks like a racing incident with Denny & Montoya to me....(since it was an according effect of some folks ahead of Montoya checking up...)

Hey All,
Yeah it was a bit of accordion but Denny - ya need to watch and be lined up not tryin to peek around the corner sittin on the left rear corner of the car in front of you. Jimmy coulda been safe but Waltrip didn't want to hit the brakes and let Jimmie in front of him. Always interesting how so many drivers don't want to brake and wreck themselves not knowing when to hit the brakes.
Funny what Kyle did to himself tryin to run 3 wide alone earlier.

Both Brad Keselowski and Carl Edwards made the same point in their post race interview. Ever since this “no going below the yellow line” rule was instated, drivers have been pointing out that sometimes, not going below the line will cause a wreck. If somebody comes down the track to block and the “blocked” driver doesn’t move down below the line to avoid it, a big wreck will ensue. And drivers have been penalized over the years for diving below the line in what was clearly an evasive maneuver to avoid a crash. Well, these guys aren’t idiots (most of them…) Brad K said it best after today’s race. Going below the line is a penalty, so I’m not going there. Carl came down to block, he didn’t have room, I knew it, he didn’t, but I wasn’t moving down because I knew I’d be penalized.” It’s the old tried and true “Law of Unintended Consequences.” It may be time for NASCAR to re-think this one. And now fans have been injured by Carl’s wreck into the fence.

One thing that I liked about the finish was how Keselowski & Edwards moved up through pack...
They were a freight-train runnin' & nothin' was gonna stop 'em.....

Yep, that was amazing. Two [good] cars together could drive through the pack like "heck." Must be something about those COT cars.

couple of things...Carl is 100% right...NASCAR has put the driver's in this box and it'll take somebody gettin killed before they change it..
totally amazing how Edwards and Keselowski were going about 10mph faster than everybody else...Jr and
Newman were hooked up but not goin anywhere near that fast..
that last wreck could have been much much worse but i guess the COT did its job.

Missed the whole thing Ed, been at the race at VIR (Grand Am) all weekend.
But I have seen the highlights.
What was Carl thinking? Great to see him run across the finish line, but that wreck was entirely of his own doing. Brad had the line, Carl drove a smart race all day until the last 500 meters, then had a total collapse of the brain!
Good for Brad, chalk up another 4 for 4 for Hendricks, because Keselowski is Earnhardt's protégé and that was a Hendrick's car.
Course you know of those in the top ten at the end, Jeff Burton was my man. But even he ended young Kyle's day. Talledega, looks like a wreck is going to happen every lap. Some wild rides taken today, must see the replay of the event on SPEED next week.
Didn't miss F-1 this morning though, caught that before I left for VIR. Another good race and one wonders, is it the car or Button, or both? If both, then one wonders why Buttion underachieved with his earlier good rides.
I don't care that Vettel has a two year contract with RBR-Renault and Red Bull, who wants to bet me he will not have a major ride next year?

Hey All,
Carl - well I don't know about him sometimes it was last year at one of the superspeedway races where he hung out in the back the whole race and then came toward the front bump drafted Kenseth and took himself, Kenseth and another of his teamates right outta the race. Great strategy that hangin out in the back!
Then he follows it up with today. Hang out in the back and then wreck himself just before the finish. Great strategy that hangin out in the back. I think Carl is a driver that needs to be in the mix of the race the whole way or he's out of it at the end.
Really good to see a single car owner win. At Talledega it can happen.
The two car thing - that was amazing! Two cars hooked up and I mean really hooked directly up can really go in the right groove. Watch this start being practiced now.
On a more serious note. 8 injured fans - two to the hospital - not serious though. Think their lawyers will tell them it isn't serious though? Bet not! That fence didn't hold by a heck of a lot! If that car had mostly missed the wall it would likely have been in the stands - and I bet racing series worldwide would have been lookin at their hole cards liability-wise after the dead were counted. I bet NASCAR and racetracks like Talledega will be tomorrow anyway.
This near miss at Talledega is a clear indication of why 200mph is the speed limit in NASCAR - if the cars were faster and they are capable of it - a real disaster is far more likely cause the tracks can't handle the speed. That is why the concept of "race what ya bring" whatever it is - is dead.
It will be very interesting to watch NASCAR's reaction to this - rules-wise.

Carl was thinking that Brad would do what every other NASCAR driver would do, or has done until now, when placed in this situation, meaning he would just ignore the "DON'T GO BELOW THE YELLOW LINE" rule, and drive down in an attenmpt to prevent a huge wreck. But Brad didn't do that... Instead, he followed NASCAR's rules to the letter...

You know, after watching WIND TUNNEL tonight.....
I thought it was quite interesting how Dave Despain & the Joe Gibbs Racing guy..(forgot his name) both thought that the Talledega 'solution' is to remove the restrictor plates & bull doze the banking down so that the track is flat....

Yeah you could do that but then it wouldn't be Talledega - you'd have to use brakes. They don't now unless pitting - on track it's a slight tap with the left foot just to break momentum a bit all the time keeping the accelerator floorboarded. Talledega is all about the draft and shuffling. Doing what they suggested would change the fundamental nature of the race to something else more like other tracks (probably like Indy) - a bad idea in my book. NASCAR is so good in part because of the variety of driving styles you have to use. Superspeedways one style, short tracks another style, road courses another style, D shaped tracks another style and then there are tracks requiring in between styles like Pocono. It's all these changes in style that make it hard for open wheelers (besides the heavy car) but it's also these kinds of intricacies that make it so good - it'd be boring if all it was was left turns.
