The Duke is Out

I had a quick flight last night that turned into a longer one. This is a NICE bit of work, this Duke. One thing I've noticed about sim aircraft is that sound is more important than I usually think, being a visual guy by nature. The Duke's sound set goes a long way towards closing the believability gap and letting you fool yourself into thinking you're flying a real plane. Doesn't hurt to have stunning modeling and great flight dynamics, either. :applause::applause::applause:

Very nice video - (would be even nicer to have heard a bit more of the engine sounds though :engel016:)

Agree, still working on mixing FSX sound with music. Plus this was only two hours of work. Glad you liked.

It is a good video and I have been longing to see one as I won't be able to buy this for a while but I've heard so much about the great sound it has that I have been longing to hear one too!

I Have the next best thing then I guess as to what you are looking for besides the plane itself, a video with a few landings, all sound even a stall horn or two flaring right before touchdown.

I really, honestly hate to say this but................ having flown the Duke for a good 10 hours I think that the Digital Cheyenne is actually the better product. It just has more to it. More versions, better night instrumentation and effects, for me better FPS and even has parked bonuses like cones and tow bars. And some excellent external night lighting.

Please dont get me wrong - the Duke is excellent but hopping back into the Cheyenne was a real treat.

I am hopeing that this gets even more competitive with the inbound carenado Seneca II

I cant do screen comparisons as the site is preventing my uploads.

Yeah, like I said before, they're pretty close for me. But, saying the Duke is about as good as the Cheyenne is not knocking the Duke at all. I still think the Cheyenne is one of the really good ones. The Duke is too. Really like Rob's flight model and the single engine stuff is really well done: you'd better do it right or you won't make it. Funny that both of them get criticism for their respective GPS units, but I really don't care in either case as I'm usually navigating with VOR. GPS is silly newfangled stuff anyway. :isadizzy:

cheers,
steve :)

Not bad STICKMAN.
Now lets see ya land at Lukla with a 50% fuel load,4 passengers and, uummm, say 400 pounds in luggage. Ok, 300 pounds.

In my opinion the ES "Twinkie" gives the Duke a run for the money. I might even be leaning a bit toward the Twinkie.

Anyway the Duke is one sweet package.

I had very high expectations and wasn't disappointed. I've purchased every RealAir product going back to the Fly! days and they just keep getting better and better. Unfortunately I won't have much time to explore all the features until next week, but I really enjoyed a half hour flight around the Caribbean.

Congrats to Rob & Sean on another winner.

I'm simple minded so I love the plane. I've used my own global texture though. :ernae:

Wow, now that's a great screenshot we got there! Well done Bob.:applause::applause::applause:

Here's one from me, no as good as Bob screenshot tho...

Care to share that texture? The bare metal paint is also my favorite!

Sure thing bro, just uploaded it to Avsim, don't know when it will show, hopefully it will do well, should have released it sooner, thanks for reminding me. I think people will like it, just remember, some planes like the Duke, you just can't replace the textures in the main Texture folder, you have to put them inside the individual texture paint folders and overwrite the one in there, which is the Chrome one, btw.

Beautiful shot too Josquin!
