'Coolest Cars You've "Never" Heard Of?'

Oh, the cynicism steps forward...

I never heard of it....

1. "you mean other people make cars besides the Japanese and Detroit? - Must be something crappy like a Lada"

2. "It's worthless and I don't care - there's no room for my 3 unwashed dogs..."

3. "If it's not a 30-second clip on CNN I'd never know about it... I learn everything there..."

4. "why would I be interested in something I can't afford?"

5. "stupid thing... my Hummer would crush it"

6. "You trying to tell me there is something I don't know? You calling me narrow-minded???"
:a1451:

Now, to relax I'll put on my best clothes and wander down to the new Spyker dealership that just opened here.
Thanks P.. they are some beautiful creations:applause:

the cool thing about # 1 on the list (saleen s-7) that the article doesn't tell you is, it has enough aerodynamic downforce at any speed above 160 mph, to ride upside down on the roof of a tunell.

i really like # 9

Only few unknowns, but nice list. Like that Spyker!

To add to your confusion:

Two more domestic almost unknowns. I have a tiny soft spot for both as I had the chance to baby sit these two during one event when they went on tour.

The Dodge Copperhead. At the time I was also baby sitting the Viper and Prowler on occasion. By far my favorite of the three was the Copperhead.

The Chrysler Atlantic. As soon as I saw it and sat in it the first thing it reminded me of were the giant early 70's Buick Rivieras.

I'll take this one - the world's fastest production car. American made. Beats the Bugatti Veyron.

Not so fast.:kilroy: 'fastest' is a relative term. Fastest top speed? Fastest from one point to another? How is the space in between the points laid out?

Here's the easier answer:

This run makes me sick to my stomach it's so fast, and you can buy one at any chevy dealership. The nurburging has just about every kind of corner and straightaway on it. I'll judge how fast an all around car really is by these standards. So long, ferrari Enzo. You never had a chance.

You know what really chaps me? I hate chevys. I'm a ford guy.

"Fast" is relative.

The most realistic view is 'point to point', and my 1973 911RS is a good example of a very quick road legal 'ptp' car, capable of faster public highway runs, ie, Melbourne to Sydney, than any contemporary domestic V8 powered muscle car.

As for 'So long Ferrari Enzo' ............... people who buy that type of vehicle are not going to buy a crappy Chevrolet or the equally stupid Ford 'GT'.

Not that I'm a fan of any 'Ferrari' produced after the F40 either. Once the Maestro passed away the real Ferraris were replaced with FIATs.

FWIW, the last of the Nurburgring so-called production car record holders is the newest generation of Nissan's 'Godzilla'.

The single most impressive performance for many years in this category has been put in by a 2 Litre 4 cylinder Caterham ....... :kilroy:

And the fastest 'car' on the planet is Richard Noble's 'Thrust' LSR device.

Cheezy........Now THIS is a remarkable piece of work, the 21st Century re-birth of the Vincent! Beautiful craftsmanship and very quick, the solo version brained the field in 2007 (or was it 2008?) at Daytona.
I never ever liked the original Vincent but this is bloody beautiful.
And only A$120,000 +/- for a race prepped solo.

That is one brutal machine: point 'n squirt...
See how the GTR looks like a Sunday afternoon drive in comparison:

Sadly, not the fastest around the 'Ring.
Marc Basseng has taken an Enzo (7:25.3), Pagani Zonda(7:24.7), and Maserati MC12 (7:24.3) around there faster.
A Viper SRT10-ACR (say what?) holds the No 2 slot.
And, untouched for four years, a Radical SR8 ran 6:55 dead, although scarcely "production" I suppose.

the truest lunatics race sidecars. man there ain't nuthin like watching those guys do their thing. as for the vincent, like lookin at the old bikes, but i wouldn't want to own one. i have some books on the rapide, and the black shadow, and the one that was a norton crossbreed, i forget the name right now. the new one you posted is sweet looking. i read years ago someone was supposed to be doing that but i never heard any more about it. is there a place to get more info? hopefully these guys do something better than those last jokers did with indian, and excelsior-henderson

a beautiful machine, made with modern technology. that's pretty cool stuff.
a bit out of my price league though:icon_lol:
it really seems to have captured the look, without being a boat anchor. that's awesome!
