Another Fine Mess

Most of you do not really know me. But From 1975 till 1990 I recorded 3 albums, lol They really sucked.
I played all the instruments and sang all the parts and recorded them on an old real to real 4 track.
Well Yesterday I dusted off the old machine and cleaned the heads and took out that pile of reals and remade a new collection. Called "Another Fine Mess"
time hasn't did them old reals any justice
I also digitized them and made 24 MP3's.
I uploaded them in a zip.

Amazing what we dont know about all of us. I would have never known. I knew though that you were a huge music enthusiast, having about 2,000 Cd's, lol..

I guess a 60 gig iPod wouldnt be enough for you.. You would need about 3 of them..

Crikey that takes one back a bit...
My reel to reel was an Akai 4-track.
It had something called "Track on track" so you could take a previously recorded track and mix it with the current recording, in theory ad infinitum.
Trouble was, by the time you'd done this 3 or 4 times the first track sounded more like zwwhhhshhwwwzzz.

Ickie you're way ahead with the technology here - my "best" dozen recordings sit on a Compact Cassette, recorded over because I knew the reel to reel format couldn't last.
Does anyone still have a cassette player???

Yup...that one's still a favorite here too. I gotta play it at work every now and then just to keep folks guessin! :d

Hey All,

BIG THUMBS UP! I been checkin a couple of these songs out. Naturally - as my avatar would suggest - I gravitated to the ones with the word cowboy in the title cause - well - bein a pilot is the next best thing to bein a cowboy - unless you can be both. Great songs - both of them! Really like the Dog named Cowboy. Also I'm goin to unlimber some of my harps (harmonicas) and see if some backin works - if I can do it. Will be checkin them all out for sure! Great job Ickie. :ernae:

My stereo has two. One's been cracked open less than ten times in the years I've owned it, but never had a tape dropped in that I can remember. I don't think the other one's ever even been opened!
 
I have an old TEAC 8 track Reel to Reel, that had 4 heads. It would take the larger 12" reels. It was really easy to do sound on sound with that machine. I recorded and mixed for several (local but unknown) bands in my younger years using the TEAC, and I still have it in a closet somewherz around the house. I haven't touched it in years and it could use a good cleaning, but prolly works just fine.

"Ship of Fools" is excellent... I'll be checkin' out the others you listed.

TEAC 8 track , wow I would have killed for that one. I have a TEAC 4 track, and a TEAC 2 track which I used to ping pong tracks, The 4 track had track on track (sound on sound) but it was easier to use the other machine
