• We have to do a little server maintenance that will take the forums off line for an about 2-3 hours. Right now we are planning for Sunday night 9:00 PM May 25

Hi Amigos......

Just a note of thanks to SOH, its staff and all of you "Brothers".......

I visited another forum and as I do here, I posted my Flights Stuff, exactly like here.....what do I get?....a private "suggestion" to keep off!!!!!!!!!from the Guru of the place saying I am spamming or something like that........Boy, am I glad I am here 99.9% of the time.......I told the guy to keep his "Kingdom" and simply Bye Bye or Ciao!!!!!!..................What a way to make friends hu??????:sleep:
 
Well that just bites Gera... Sorry it hapopened..But the net can be a very unfriendly place..

I would like to personally say that this community is probably one of the most mature audiences I have seen on any FS forum. It really irks me to join another forum or participate in a conversation only to have a bunch of immature folks respond with things like "first comment," or speak in l337. It is even harder to speak to people about often very esoteric subjects on such forums. The more mature audience here allows me to join into more diverse, and while often heated conversations, all the while keeping a certain measure of civility.

One of the things I find refreshing about SOH is that there are no kids posting a bunch of garbage simply to run up a post count.

You certainly speak the truth. That's why I don't frequent any other flight sim forums any more.

The maturity level on other sites is sadly lacking.

Not to mention that the people who maintain and attend SOH also combine to produce some of the finest looking planes ever to address my desktop! :medals:

Gera, each forum has its own character, even when it's about flightsimming.

Anyways, you did the right thing by saying "bye,bye". Better to cut the cord than getting grey hairs all for nothing.

HeHe..you'll see all the devs at FS Developers at some time...probably at Freeflight Design at some time as well.

There is no point to this post...I just wanted to increase my post count. (Feeling like a kid again wouldn't be too bad either...):icon_lol:

Other sites can be so negative and focus on goofy things. Here, we seem to be into flying, planes, cool topics.

Maybe SOH is a bit smaller FS website, but it has very mature users (as stated above) and great library with high quality addons, some of which are only availble here.
I also like that there are many developers around and the community is very strict but fair about the addons (IMHO) and almost every good one is noticed and made "sticky" for some time. SOH was the first one where the "fsx-native" demand has started - i like that personally.

part of that reason is because we are not "mods& admin"
first, we are members and enthusiasts
its our hobby also, we only put hats on
when it gets unruly
we love the new addons just the same as anyone else
thats what this site is based on
all staff are members we just have an extra job to do

Welll, it certainly gives me a great place to go while i'm waiting for fsx to reload for the umpteenth time each day.. It's informative, the people are mostly friendly, all around it's a fun place to visit.. Kinda like a home away from work...
