Brian, I read in the recent thread started by Obio about placing static aircraft at existing airfields. I asked the same question a while ago and received conflicting opinions, but I was interested by the comment that you ".... might be able to generate a scenery object using my Cessna 140...." My question is very simple, how can you make a scenery object for EZ-Scenery from an aircraft model?

I did try the mdlc and scasm solution, without success (it would help if I knew what I was doing though). What I want to do is place outdoor exhibits at the numerous aviation museums around the UK, Duxford, Coventry, Elvington etc. The afacad/ traffic tools solution doesn't appeal as much as using EZ-Scenery.

I suspect the answer will not be so simple as the question, but thanks in advance.

The reason I can make a scenery object is because as the designed of the original, I have the source files.

In FSDS 3 I can take that older model, merge it into a single part and export it as a scenery model. then I run it through the utility that comes with Instant scenery and the result is a usable scenery object.

To be honest, I could do that with all my aircraft but at an average of 30,000 polys per model, they would not be very framerate friendly.

Thanks for the reply Brian. :icon29:

So even if I knew what to do, had the required software and was prepared to take a frame rate hit on any scenery, I still couldn't make a scenery object because I don't have any source files.

Thanks for the links MM.

The first bit of my opening sentence, "So even if I knew what to do" sums up my knowledge and ability being creative. My scenery building abilty amount to being able to place scenery objects using EZ-Scenery, adding parking places using afcad and creating AI flight plans (sort of :kilroy:).

I have tried to use afcad and TT to place static exhibits, some work, more often than not, the aeroplane vanishes as soon as it has landed. I suspect this is because of problems with taxy ways leading up to parking spaces between buildings and other obstacles.
