This thing is the dogs bollocks its mind bending what they do plus its crazy how many G's they take, its throttle is crazy too you use your thumb to tell the computer how much thrust you want and on what engine you wan't it, you hang on with ya hand on the solid HOTAS throttle and solid stick like the one in the F16 only bigger and with more functions, which also helps apparently.
This was done because a few Russian pilots who were probably pissed (like me now) were finding there arms couldn't move under such high G forces and their hands actually flew off the controls, so I think this is an extremely clever design for aircraft control, personally I would probably prefer to use that system myself!
I mean Smoothie to back you up mate, they brought this to the world famous Farnborough International Air Show and offered the Gripen, Eurofighter and the Super hornet USN guys plus probably some others I can't remember and not one of them would go up against it because they knew they couldn't stay on its tail, even the Raptor would only win due to the sophistication of its onboard ECM and steath systems plus modern ACM tactics.
That massive RWR could be for over the shoulder missile shots with the all aspect AA-11 Archer missile too, which is supoosedly better than the sidewinder who knows (defo not the X model or the ASRAAM). Honestly the only thing I could think of in a dogfight against this thing ,would be to run! Hoping that its quite short legs with those two Saturn Lyulka AL-37FU vectored-thrust afterburning turbofans developing 30,855 lb thrust each ,which are extremely thirsy apparently, for displays they take off with 10,000 lbs of fuel and its used up after a few mins of hard manourvering , and while its manouverable as hell, it really isn't as fast as our Eurofighter or the F22 as it would outrun this thing no problem in a slashing type attack, coming out of the sun refusing to get into a turning engagement which as we all have discussed = death against this!
I mean Jesus just look at these manouvres -->>
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bNFiIuTvneI. <<-- I think F22 Exterminator is a bit far fetched though lol.
I only wish i could get the smoke working if anyone has this aircraft with a working smoke system plz plz plz let me know how to add it because when you add it into the aircraft.cfg it only comes with the power if i hold the "I" key at idle it comes on when I add thrust it stays on and i have to hold it down to turn the smoke off but as soon as I let go it comes back on and as any display pilot knows ya throttle is back and forwards all the time and you must be able to key ya smoke otherwise ya display looks sh*t I mean its a sin not to do pugachev's cobra and tehn flat spin or even inverted spin without smoke, it totally spoils the effect of the manouvres.
Here's a couple of pic's sorry there in the dark but i had just watched that youtube vid lol... this is at Chkalovsk in Russia... (I can't even pronounce it) lol search Flightsim.com .. Chkalovsk.. its sp2 only tho!
There is a nice An224 Mriya with animated ground crew! Notice the landing gear error tho! Theres some personel around the base and I found it quite adequate graphically and frame friendly!!
I was Just taxi'ing out here!
Can't wait for Pam's updated SU33 FDE , it sounds great!
For this Flanker set however, I downloaded the free, Bear Studio's flanker by Bill Wolfgen, file named su27flnk.zip at flightsim.com. I swapped the .air file and swapped the whole [airplane_geometry] section in the original aircraft.cfg, Ive tried giving her more power but NO...don't touch the flight dynamics, fuel load or anything else just download Bill Wolfgen's su27 and change the neccisary parts to try a new Alphasim Sukhoi Flanker experience!
And someone plz help me with the smoke effects lol!!
