SU-33 Flanker finally up to speed in FSX...

Warrant,

Hope you cab get the hud sorted. That was something I never managed to do.
I got the AS SU33 to play nice in FSX by removing the AB gauge from the panel & then adding AB string to the aircraft.cfg. I dont recall exactly what it was (and cant look it up as I am on my laptop ATM) but its straight from the default F18 & changed it from a 6 stage AB to single stage.

you'd be surprised how agile this thing is, Pam and myself were looking at diagrams of fuel tank locations, and the structore of it, so as to determine its natural CoG, from that we examined wing area, and tail area (included canards in that) and we looked at MTOW and engine performance, she's stilla loong way from perfect BUT i believe if Pam and i jump back on this one, it'll open the FS Flight Dynamics just that bit more....

Matt is it possible to get that FDE
awesome video :applause:

BR
Tom

::Chuckles:: Matts my tester. And that FDE was scrapped, However, even though i cant release the entire plane to the general public, that FDE is mine, and what i do with it is solely my discretion. We'll make sure you get a copy. It's just gonna take some time. Those videos are mildly decieving, because Matt is an outstanding display pilot. That FDE is actually extremely hard to control. Matt just makes it look like a walk in the park. Tommy. You know me. You know i wont release anything that isnt done right. Bear with us. We're gonna make it really good..
Pam

Thats good news about the FDE if you can make it available to flanker lovers like myself it would be much appreciated Warchild mate, as for that video i agree it should be a hard manouvre the cobra, but not like the alphasim default air file, Its just wrong! I personally can't wait until someone hits the nail on the head and gets it right one day or makes a completely fsx native model here to hoping ehh!

no, it's noty. it's the original alphasim model being redeveloped for the VUSN with the authors permission, to be used as aggressor aircraft at their flight school..
the thing is, the f-18 and f-14 just arent up to taking any of these guys on. Not even the F-22 stands a chance.. To start with, the optical systems used on these planes makes our doppler radar look blind. They litterally see us a long time before we know they are there..

Couldn't agree more and the other thing about russian technology is, its as hard as nails litterally, I just ltterally would give a leg either one lol for an su30! I would just love to have a fly from the rear cockpit it would be something though wouldn't it with a full fsx sp2 cockpit!

righto Pam i'll head back to JFTC, outstanding display pilot, aww come on i ain't that good....:icon_lol: Flanker is a great aircraft, not many aeroplanes in service can stop in mid air (Harrier, JSF), the SU-33/35/37 can, allbeit on their backsides, in theory you could be 5nm behind one it'd know you were there from the onboard systems (remember she has rear facing radar as well), Flanker could cobra, more or less inverting itself facing the opposite way, the pilot could keep it there and the pursuer would be wearing an AA-8 'Aphid'.........

This is really a knife and pistol aircraft, close fighting par excellance!!

Still can't get the smoke to work though using the default Fx_smoke_w under the [SMOKESYSTEM] in the aircraft.cfg... I get smoke but it doesn't toggle off the "i" key it comes on at high throttle settings does anyone know what causes this?

Im not devolper
so I moded my IRIS F-14 to be some Flanker

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8zhwLdtMQzE

what your F-14 does there is early flanker manouverability, with the canards and TV its a whole different beastie, 2 planes that would never go amiss in FS would be the MiG-29OVT and the Sukhoi Flanker (SU-30,33,34,35,37), i'll dig it up again at some point and make a video, maybe once Pam and Myself get this FDE re-started, methinks we're gonna start from scratch :ernae:

::LOL:: It's such a cluster f***k of names. The S-37 which we americans percieved as the SU-37 was re-designated the SU-35 and the S-47 bearcat was redesinated the SU-37. The problem with the bearcat was that it was greated with all the enthusiasm of a sideshow freak by the commanding generals of the russian air force, much like our X-29 was here. They simply could not deal with backwards wings. In Americas case with the x-29 the wings appearance was only a part of the problem. lthough it was capable of supermaneuverability to a degree, the wings could not withstand the high G loading and were prone to wear out very quickly. The SU-33 ( navy ) and SU-35 ( ground based ) ewe're able to solve the wing loadng problems even though they are much larger aircraft.

These are indeed knife and cutlass aircraft, but dont underestimate them, they carry an arsenal that is most impressive in it's capabilities..

( no to keep an eye on the upcoming chinese planes.. They look scary..

SU-47 'Berkut' Pam, it is Russian for 'Golden Eagle', them FSW's really were something, the Sukhoi-33 (Navalised Flanker) is a good aircraft, Flankers prior to the -30 designation were not fitted with canards, even some -30's weren't, the SU-30MKI has them, SU-33 has them, SU-34 has them SU-35 Has Them, and SU-37 has them, you ask a fighter pilot what eastern bloc aircraft they're most afraid of and nine or so times out of ten they'll say 'Flanker', it's a mean machine if ever there was one, the SU-37 is designated Flanker-F, meaning it's the 6th Flanker variant... this aircraft just proves that looks really can kill, given how much western pilots know of it and what it can do they're wary... get into a dogfight, not know what it was till the last moment and you see its a couple of flankers, you're gonna be apprehensive of engaging.... here an image that just shows the SU-37's stunning looks.... note the RWR and scale of it (look at the pilots head in the canopy)

This thing is the dogs bollocks its mind bending what they do plus its crazy how many G's they take, its throttle is crazy too you use your thumb to tell the computer how much thrust you want and on what engine you wan't it, you hang on with ya hand on the solid HOTAS throttle and solid stick like the one in the F16 only bigger and with more functions, which also helps apparently.
This was done because a few Russian pilots who were probably pissed (like me now) were finding there arms couldn't move under such high G forces and their hands actually flew off the controls, so I think this is an extremely clever design for aircraft control, personally I would probably prefer to use that system myself!
I mean Smoothie to back you up mate, they brought this to the world famous Farnborough International Air Show and offered the Gripen, Eurofighter and the Super hornet USN guys plus probably some others I can't remember and not one of them would go up against it because they knew they couldn't stay on its tail, even the Raptor would only win due to the sophistication of its onboard ECM and steath systems plus modern ACM tactics.
That massive RWR could be for over the shoulder missile shots with the all aspect AA-11 Archer missile too, which is supoosedly better than the sidewinder who knows (defo not the X model or the ASRAAM). Honestly the only thing I could think of in a dogfight against this thing ,would be to run! Hoping that its quite short legs with those two Saturn Lyulka AL-37FU vectored-thrust afterburning turbofans developing 30,855 lb thrust each ,which are extremely thirsy apparently, for displays they take off with 10,000 lbs of fuel and its used up after a few mins of hard manourvering , and while its manouverable as hell, it really isn't as fast as our Eurofighter or the F22 as it would outrun this thing no problem in a slashing type attack, coming out of the sun refusing to get into a turning engagement which as we all have discussed = death against this!
I mean Jesus just look at these manouvres -->> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bNFiIuTvneI. <<-- I think F22 Exterminator is a bit far fetched though lol.
I only wish i could get the smoke working if anyone has this aircraft with a working smoke system plz plz plz let me know how to add it because when you add it into the aircraft.cfg it only comes with the power if i hold the "I" key at idle it comes on when I add thrust it stays on and i have to hold it down to turn the smoke off but as soon as I let go it comes back on and as any display pilot knows ya throttle is back and forwards all the time and you must be able to key ya smoke otherwise ya display looks sh*t I mean its a sin not to do pugachev's cobra and tehn flat spin or even inverted spin without smoke, it totally spoils the effect of the manouvres.

Here's a couple of pic's sorry there in the dark but i had just watched that youtube vid lol... this is at Chkalovsk in Russia... (I can't even pronounce it) lol search Flightsim.com .. Chkalovsk.. its sp2 only tho!

There is a nice An224 Mriya with animated ground crew! Notice the landing gear error tho! Theres some personel around the base and I found it quite adequate graphically and frame friendly!!
I was Just taxi'ing out here!

Can't wait for Pam's updated SU33 FDE , it sounds great!
For this Flanker set however, I downloaded the free, Bear Studio's flanker by Bill Wolfgen, file named su27flnk.zip at flightsim.com. I swapped the .air file and swapped the whole [airplane_geometry] section in the original aircraft.cfg, Ive tried giving her more power but NO...don't touch the flight dynamics, fuel load or anything else just download Bill Wolfgen's su27 and change the neccisary parts to try a new Alphasim Sukhoi Flanker experience!
And someone plz help me with the smoke effects lol!!
