MiG-21F13 released

Altimeter gauge

This is an unusually fine piece of freeware. Those that miss this one have really missed out. I also could not initially get the engine started. Then I made a copy of the screen-shot with the red numbered switches - and made a copy of the step by step sequence list. I fired her up the first time (I had not previously pushed the starter button after uncovering it). Try it - it WILL start.

Now- will someone please look into the panel.cfg file and tell me which gauge (by number or name) is the altimeter.

Bill

Try this one: http://img6.imageshack.us/gal.php?g=number1n.jpg

Click on each picture as you go along, just clicking what is inside of the blue and following the little notes if there are any.

oK..THX it started following your last shots. It,s great!

I'm so happy I've got tears in my eyes. :icon_lol:

Finally a FSX compatible MiG-21!

But you can certainly tell the MiG-21 was designed as an interceptor. Seems to have the turning circle of a small planet!

That's odd. The Fishbed is said to be a very good "turner".

Funny you should mention that ,John, as today my postie has dropped off my copy of Red Eagles America's Secret MiG's by Steve Davies (no...not the snooker champ;) ) which highlights the black program involving the testing and evaluation of soviet aircraft by 4477th Squadron.

For anyone able to read books on his/her computer screen, here's the (legal and free) e-book version.

- Edit: If anyone's interested, Flightsim.cz also has the prototype, the E-152M avaiable for download!

yeah this is like a bear studio give away!! look if anyone can make me a repaint of the veitnamese scheme I would be much appreciated I love to down americans well no I love them really just like teaching people lessions in dogfighting lol especially phantom drivers!
If you'd like me to prove that just PM me and I'lll happily spend hours teaching people how to use this jet and it may be a shock to some people but don't!!! I SAY AGAIN, DON'T try and turn against an F14, F15 or F16 your dead get high and use your speed out of the sun!!! remember, this thing is a Russian supersonic sports car!! (Loves the hammer but not the corners!!) if ya want a 9'G' frisk then you have picked the wrong jet, well at least the wrong model, remember this is an early 60's russian jet. You have to work for what you get out of her!!
P.S. great model really well done 10/10 to the author!!

I've just had two rides in this thing - way better than sex!

Had not many troubles starting the Fishbed up, once you got the sequence right, it's a piece of cake.
Flying however is a bit of a challenge, but I totally like that. She needs afterburner and quite a bit of trim to get off the ground and then, provided that you switch off the burner, handles like a 747 in the sub-400kph range, but just fine above that. You'll need to trim her well and adjust throttles to maintain a stable flight, but that makes flying the F-13 all the more interesting. When you come in for a landing, you might want to use the NDB navigation equipment on board to find the runway (as per the manual), since the forward visibility is fairly poor. Once you're lined up, you'll have to go back into that dreaded sub-400kph range for final, but as soon as the flaps pop out and the gear goes down, it's quite a piece of cake, as long as you don't lose sight of the runway. Slight throttle adjustments to keep a good approach speed and down you settle. Now it's the right time for the chute which considerably shortens your landing roll.
If you, however, decided to keep the 21 in full afterburner after take-off, you signed in for a Starfighter-like ride. It's either straight forward at an insanely high speed or up,up,up - at an insanely high speed. I managed to hit 50000ft after a ride that was a mere couple of seconds. You need to be careful though, airspeed starts to bleed off after that quite fast. If you're not careful enough, you'll hit about 75000ft, stall and then tumble down to earth while desperately trying to regain control. At least you can eject once the situation gets out of hand. :icon_lol:
Oh, and always keep an eye on your fuel gauge! The Fishbed isn't the most economic aircraft, especially if kept in afterburner!

Anyways, here's some screenshots from those two flights. Note the brake chute and "maintenance mode" in the last two shots as well as the engine smoke.

This aircraft rendition is nothing short of a masterpiece! Payware quality!
And excellent performance for a portover!

All it needs now is some nice repaints.
Yago?!?
Please?!?
Pretty please?!? :engel016:
Like a LSK (East German AF) repaint in bare silver and/or camo?

- Edit: I wonder if the author is going to do ther versions as well.

Hee hee, I am an ex-Phantom driver. Of course it was the RF-4. No guns, no missiles, no nothing but speed and cameras blazing.

Well it LOOKS nice, but I've given up on ever getting it started. I've gone over and over the pictures till I'm blue in the face but have obviously missed something. Shouldn't be this frustrating.

Hi yago!
To activate the drag chute, you just have to click on the yellow button (top left of the panel). To reset it, just click on the other yellow button (on the left of the seat).
I hope you release a finnish air force bare metal livery for this beauty... like this one for example:

I love this model. A free high quality model. Thank you very much to the authors Ivan Jurcaga (model) Jan Moravec (sound) and Antonin "Tonde" Janeckathe paper model. Also the artists of the textures that are already working, securely.

I want to put something on my part, hope you like it:

Yeah speed was your defence you could outrun and outclimb this thing your a brave man though!

I can't get it started the damn starter wont deppress the grey button under number 11 switch cover, plus how long does it take to start up, I get no fuel pump noise or anything plus how do you get the chocks and the red cage trolley for the rear fuselage to appear thought it might be the parking brake but its not that on mine lol!
Thanks for any help guys!

..5 mins later and I'm really frustrated it just won't start following the procedure to the letter but the starter just won't depress! :banghead:
