A B-1 on the ground look sort of like those long dogs with short legs. In the air they are pretty aeroplanes. Cool pics.

Do any non-military guys want to guess what aircraft that cockpit comes from?

That AFB Nellis?

yessir!! Nothing gets past you guys.:ernae:

I was looking through an old photo album when I found these from a trip last year. Due to heavy traffic, the C-17 we hitched a ride on wasn't given an approach or allowed to descend until we were literally on top of Nellis. In one 180 degree turn, we lost all that altitude. I've got it on video somewhere.

Didn't you say you worked for MD/Boeing?

Yep. I worked on getting the C-17 nose installations moved from So Cal to St Louis. We had previously built just the structure but about 10 years ago we started stuffing it and making a complete, splice-ready nose for the foward barrel. It was funny, eveyone always asked what that ball on the center pillar was for.

It's actually classified, but what the heck, I'll spill the beans. It's the ultimate in situational awareness tools: it predicts the future with it's advanced fourth-gen crystal ball diode. That capability is very useful when it comes to foreseeing threats to safety of flight, like weather and surface to air attacks. The newest versions have doubled the amount of time they see into the future.
