I agree........just took it up to fly over the English countryside and looking out of the side window in a tight turn you can see what I mean by the details on these struts.....:applause:

How does this compare to the Army's AOP9 Auster? I helped refurbish one for the museum - only a little bit mind, during "free lessons" while on my basic tech training. (very nearly 40 years ago...)

In terms of flying control and characteristics, the two types are miles apart...the Autocrat is mostly rudder and then aileron and elevator, whilst the AOP.9 is a more harmonised flying machine. Nothing from a 9 will fit an earlier Auster.

Useless fact: The mainwheels for the AOP.9 are DC-3 tailwheels.

How many Cubs have you seen with side by side seating? No way is this a Cub, but a true British aeroplane with a wonderful pedigree and history and which is often overlooked by the likes of de Havilland, Miles and Percival. Virtually every British private pilot learnt to fly on Austers in the 50s and early 60s, before the infux of tricycle Cessna and Piper designs.
