Aero L-39 Albatros

I was just talking about that Duxford accident at the weekend, it didn't click that it was an L-39. Sad outcome.

Yes, that was a very sad accident. I remember reading about it many months ago, and it confirms the plane's crashworthiness to some degree. Interestingly the L-39 is probably one of the safest planes in the world to belly land. With its almost square planar profile, relatively slow landing speed for a jet, super strong wings, and very flat bottom plus tip tanks, it resists rolling on ground impact really well if the landing is level and on a smooth enough surface. The gear lever in the real thing has an emergency RAT retraction function just for this eventuality as well. Gear lever goes into the up position and then force it to the right just before touchdown, and the RAT comes back in immediately.

BIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGGG REQUEST for all who wanna do a very exciting repaint!!!

http://www.airliners.net/photo/Aero-L-39...89904e075c MY FAVOURITE ONE

and

http://www.airliners.net/photo/Aero-L-39...1636f7bc39 ONE I ALSO LIKE

whould be sooooo great if someone could do the DRAGON ::monkies:

THANK YOU ;-)

btw. awsome paintjobs:applause:

as you said before both are nice liveries
but a problem for both is that their are no shots from the wings and underside of the plane that makes it very difficult for a repainter to recreate these liveries accurately:kilroy:

Rather nice job I thought!

Wow I didn't know there were so many different schemes for the L-39..its a repainters paradise! The L-39 is such an excellent subeject.

That Russian dragon scheme looks fantastic

I agree I'd like to see that one however I bet it would be really hard to do lol!

If you're referring to the privately owned Russian dragon paint, this was my thought process the first time I saw it:

Left Brain: "Wow, look at that, that would be a sweet paint to..."
Right Brain: "Try it and I'll kill you. Next."

I try to be a diligent painter, but I'm not especially fast. I'd probably still be at that one months later. :)

However I'll give a chocolate chip cookie to anyone that pulls it off, hehe.

Hey Cirrus. Yes I'm aware of this one. Seems to occur mostly in multiplayer, and I'm working on it. Can you give me your system specs and any environmental addons running at the time? Also did this occur with one of the standard planes or a repainted one? If a repaint can you tell me which please?

Thanks,

-Mike

Just had a flight around the Matterhorn area and snapped this shot which I can't stop looking at, I think it looks pretty real! (Well I think so). Every part of this Jet is gold in my opinion, a great touring aircraft, well as long as the fuel lasts lol!
