• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

    If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

    Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

Just found out I am kind of a Grand Pa...

Kind of cool actually, I was just talking to da wife and found out one of the numerous kids that rotated through our house over the years is now a dad so I am thinking that kind of makes me a grand dad.

I know it is not the same as on of my own kids having a youngin, but I still think it is kind of cool. We had numerous unofficial foster kids over the years - our kids never brought home stray animals they brought home stray kids... Some stayed a cuple of weeks and a couple ended up with us for a couple of years. The last young guy who was a "guest" in the "Birds Nest" was with us for 2 years, he had a rough time at home -step mother wanted him out and got her way! He had some anger management issues, but with us he was a good kid, always helped out around and treated us with respect. Well he is out working now and his GF just delivered a healthy baby boy so I guess I know where my next few pay checks will be going, da wife already has most of them spent I bet.
 
I'm sure it's nice to see this kid become a father. It's probably even more nice to see him become a responsible adult - thanks to your generosity and spirit.

I have often said that just about any man can father a child. However, it takes a real man to be a father. You were.

Something I learned at church that I didnt know you could do, that Jesus would talk about is that you could actually take a branch of grapes from one vine in one mans vineyard, and splice it to another vine in anothers vineyard, totally transplanting the branch to an entirely new tree.

I didnt know you could really do that.

Some friends in the past were like family members, at times closer then family.
