Old threads and Talos2005

TRASNO
Gentlemen:

The late night I was taking a look at the hundreds of downloads since several years ago, that need a good lybrarian to put order on them. I found many of the Talos 2005 repaints on Akemi´s and yashico´s planes. And this makes me to think how I miss both Talos repaints and his amazing knowledge of japanese aviation themes. Do anybody know about Talos? I think that he is missing from years ago.
But now the good new (I think). I found that I not only downloaded the files, but I also downloaded many of the threads on which Talos and many of you talk about repaints and upload new dp´s, cfg files, etc. So I think that as many threads were destroyed, I can send the ones I got to one of the administrators (Rami?), so they can be uploaded again (I don´t know if this would be possible). Or I can put the files on a zip and upload it. What do you think, guys?

If there's nothing inappropriate (violating some rules or protocols), I think it would be a great idea to save/restore virtually anything and everything we have seen over the years. I may be the wrong person to reply ... because I an absolutely HORRID PACK RAT! About the only thing I DON'T save are candy wrappers and really short pieces of string. :pop4:

Talos was tranferred to NY a couple of years ago to help setup offices for the company he works for.I remember someone in this forum met him not to long ago.I've talked to Talos on the phone a few times but not in about a year.He does still come into SOH when he has time but I think his job keeps him very busy.

He was also a big help with paint schemes for the IJN PHP2 planes and loadouts for them.HE sent me pics and revev did the textures.I was also given the Squadron names from each ship during the Pearl Harbor attack.

Talon

I'll ask Jagdflieger about what he wants to do. He's been around much longer than I, and knows more of the old members.

Talos did indeed upload several historically correct skins for Japanese aircraft as well as the history behind them. They were (are) superlative efforts with correct insignia and color.

I collected them quickly as Talos did not want to upload them to the library. I didn't understand why, but he was adamant about that and to that end, they continue on only in personal collections.

I'll send Talos an E-mail and ask if Transo can organize and upload them with his permision as well as invite him to this thread. As Talon reports, he is very busy in NYC, but perhaps he'll visit us again.

I think that you didn´t understand me. What I am offering is some of the old threads lost, not the repaints and other files uploaded withing the threads.
Trasno

Trasno,
Turns out I have the two zip files originally attached to the "Green Val" thread. :)
Personally I'd like to have those threads just to have Talos2005's commentary as reference material. However if Jagdflieger and others here still have the files that Talos attached to those threads, that would be even better.

Talos gave his blessing for second party uploads when he posted them as I recall.

The last time I heard from him was in August. His posting to NYC was finished and he was heading back to Tokyo for his next assignment.
Cheers Thicko

Talos wrote back and Thicko is correct. His company has transferred him back to Tokyo where he remains very busy. He sends his regards to all here and gives his permission to upload the skins here to the Outhouse. I hope that his work schedule will allow him to join us again in the near future.

Do we want to make a project of getting his skins organized and uploaded like we have done for the IS4G and 1% aeroplanes?

I think that is an excellent idea. Talos's repaint zips were always just the main external textures so they wouldn't be massive uploads. Where possible the pertinent thread from Trasno could be included.

I was going to mention that. They probably contain most or all of his uploads. I have a lot of them on my PC but restoring the links should do most of the task at hand.
