OT: why you shouldn't let your wife go shopping!

BeauBrummie

Home for tea and tiffin!
On one of the few Saturdays which I managed to get out of the weekly shopping run to Morrisions was of course the one I just should have been at. During BoB week, an old chap was shaking a charity can outside Morrisons. My wife saw it was for the RAF Benevolent Fund (or similar) and thought "Jeff will only moan if I didn't put some money in". She saw the chap was also selling lapel pins of Spitfires. Being a decent cove, my wife asked if he had a Mosquito (that's why I love her), he said no and that he'd often thought they should also sell Beaufighter pins as he flew them in Burma during the War!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My wife mentioned that I liked Beau's also, he said that later he'd converted to Mossies. My wife said I was was going to the book signing event next week at the Mossie museum. He said so was he!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not the reason I was expecting to hear, but how cool is that!

I hope you will be able to link up with him next week, Jeff.

There was a stall a couple of weeks ago in our town's shopping arcade collecting for the RAF Benevolent fund. The guy running was in the RAF but didnt serve during the war and wasnt a pilot but he was interesting to talk to none the less. I gave him what I could each lunch time for about a week and in return he gave me a few badges. Including two mossie badges!
