Systems In .dp Files Problem

Charter Member
Hi Guys, and maybe some Gals,
I have been attempting to get a .dp file together for the B-57B that AS recently released as freeware. Was wanting to get the effects to show on the model in the proper places. Suddenly CFS2 started giving CTD's when my file was added. Today I just saw Pen32's reply in Talons "NG 1942" thread in which he spoke of faulty system links in the .dp that can cause this. Could anyone elaborate on this? I'll attach a copy of it here. Starting to get crossed eyed looking through it trying to figure out the problem. :blind:
Thanks in advance, Dv

I see a few loose ends that need correction, but nothing obvious that the sim would spit out. Did you try removing the bombs or replacing them?

You should also create left and right guns in the parts section and assign your gunstations to them instead of wing structures. The 'guns' parts should also be located one of the damage boxes, a wing box for wing mounted or the nose box for nose mounted. They should be given a damage probability value within those boxes like all the other parts located in the boxes.

Total probability values for all the combined parts in a box should never exceed 100% - each part is manually given a share of that 100% pie depending on its chances of being damaged as that box is struck.

Fine Tune

Hi DV;

I've taken the liberty of tweaking your DP file to speed up your learning curve. I noted two things that may have caused you trouble:

~ no "entered service" date or crew amount in the [Misc] section

~ Standard breaking parts were not numbered in the [Boxes]

Please try this one and let me know how it works.

Hi Gents, Sorry for the late reply. Hey Bc and Sc, I was in the process of assigning the guns to something else besides the wings, and thats when I noticed this below...

[BOXMAPS.3]
; Box = Port Wing
boxmap.0=
5,7
boxmap.1=
60,-1
boxmap.2=
10,25
boxmap.3=

boxmap.4=
10,27
boxmap.5=
10,29
boxmap.6=
35,3
--------------------------------
equals=
135 ehhh 35 too many :banghead:

can have less then 100, but not More. Corrected that and no more CTD.

Also sc7500...thanks for the different effects listing in [EFFECTS. X]

effect.2=30,LIBRARY,fx_engfire_m,

These do look better.
Thanks to both of you for your help, :applause:

No problemo, DV ~ I wonder if there mite be a difulkultee in your DPEdit program...?

Anyhoot, enjoy !

this is also a prob.
Thanks BD, it's all starting to make some sense now. As you can probably tell, this file is not made from scratch. I started with the stock "Betty" .dp for the Boxes because it seemed the closest in size and wings configuration. Half of the edits were done in DPED, and the others by hand in notepad. The most ever done by me before was swapping ordinance and making some new hardpoints. It's finally good to see what the upper part of the file is all about.
Thanks for the input.

More then likely...the operator of it. :icon_lol:
