Syrian Dessert...a good place to be

What a awesome flight today. Took off out of Jerusalem and headed up to Syria and into the Syrian dessert. What a fantastic fight it was with the dessert ahead of me. At first it was almost blinding looking out the window to the horizon. Could not tell how high the dunes were…the landscape just sort disappeared into the sky. I was on my guard ready for evasive action. I also ran into a little weather that bumped me and the B377 around in the dessert…..she was creaking and rolling. Had a great time. Took a few shots of course.

Syrian dessert ;-)

Nammoura

This is a Syrian dessert I learned from a friend of mine. It's quick to make and everyone enjoys the novelty of this traditional Arabic treat.

Ingredients

Batter

1 3/4 cups semolina (sometimes the package has #2 to denote the type of semolina)

½ cup sugar
1 cup yogurt

½ shredded coconut
(not necessary, but is very tasteful)
1 tsp baking powder
1 tbsp melted butter
blanched whole almonds - to decorate each square, or use 3 tbsp of finely ground pistachio as a substitute

Syrup

1 2/3 cups white sugar

3/4 cups water

1 tbsp lemon juice

2 tsp orange flower water (you can use rose water too)

...dancing in the desert, blowing up the sunshine...

First thought upon reading the thread title.
Might have listened to this song a bit too much.
