Stargate Universe; Latest Episode

Lionheart

SOH-CM-2014
Great episode tonight in SGU.

Who could have thought that a ship could skim the surface of a star to collect material and fuels.

:d

PS; ChaCha.. One of the key actors in the show is named 'Eli'... :kilroy:

(see last photo)

That is a young dude named Eli... (the third picture) He is the smartest and the youngest ... and most of them are jealous of him...

:engel016:

*** he is the favourite of this other guy (the one in the middle) who is incharge of researching the ship... (that's as far as I have watched it)

Hey! You watched it! I didnt know you were into SciFi stuff Eli.

Yep.. he is 'Math Boy!' lol... The head scientist, who seems a bit evil, holds this kid in high regard, as he is able to compute things in his mind, at mind boggling parameters with ease.

Its because of the evil dude that all these people are on that ship and not on earth... He was more interested in getting the 7th symbol (or 8th?) to function on a gate and during the attack, kept dialing it and got a lock, and it wouldnt unlock. So thru they went...

Cool kid. Great episode...

Bill,

I do not know if I mentioned to you back then, that I love Scifi channel,
on TV (If I have time, I watch it). Matter of fact I have a collection of "Stars Wars" from IV to VI and from I to III ...(it's in one of my boxes in Hannah's closet)... (it's about time to buy the Blue Ray version)....

... when I was a kid (40 years ago?) I was dreaming of flying cars will be made after 10 years... 40 years has passed, still waiting.... patiently :engel016:

... back to the topic :isadizzy:

This newest incarnation of the Stargate franchise just keeps getting better. I will not deny that they got the plot ideas from other popular and classic Sci-Fi TV shows and movies, but it puts it all together quite well.

The Characters a very real and human, the Visual Effects are very well done, the actors do a very good job at each of there roles.:applause:

I'm just not enjoying this at all. I'm going to stick with it in the hope that it gets better but at the moment it's horribly predictable and some of the acting is a little bit ropey at times. There are also plenty of huge gaping plot holes that are so obvious it's hard to ignore them.

That kid Eli intriques me. He is always finding stuff in the ship, like those hover balls that record and roam. He doesnt have any political agenda. Just having fun hanging out and taking in the technology.

The other person I think in the series that is pretty cool is the Colonel that walks with the limp. Very grounded guy. Right now, its as though his best friend is Eli, lol..

I thought it was pretty wild how they didnt know about the what the exterior of the ship looked like until they had released a hover ball at the end of the last episode and it was able to record and show the exterior.

There was one scene where they were aero-braking in a half orbit around a gas giant. The exterior shots of it looked like they were taken from a long distance telescope. The ship was just a sliver against the huge planet. Then it zooms in and you can see this wedge taking a huge beating in the atmosphere. Kind of reminded me how intense aerodynamics are at ultra high speeds.

I have had a real hard time staying interested in the show. It just doesn't have the grab that the other Stargate shows had, I mean really I would have preferred another season of Atlantis to this.

I would rather have Defying Gravity back.
SG-U is not up to the previous incarnations.
Too many characters for starters.

They need some bad guys real bad.
Five episodes in -- and they are still doing setup.

Still undecided on this latest installment. I kind of enjoy it but I just can't see it having the longevity of SG-1 or even that of Atlantis's five seasons. Just watched the episode Light. Enjoyed it, but you just know the writers have seen the movie Sunshine.

Same here, especially since I love SGA. Getting real tired of writers and producers exploiting peoples emotions, feelings and reactions instead of spending more time on effects, action and events. To many extreme personalities. I like Col Young and Scott, but Dr. Rush annoys the crap out of me and Eli is just a whiny substitute for Rodney from SGA. I have a hard time with the ship design, it doesn't look Ancient at all in it's design, looks more like something from Aliens

Funny, Julie benson (2nd Lt. James) doesn't do it for me in her BDUs, but in real life is very attractive.

Oh well, there always the next SGA movie :applause:

complain complain..

:frown:

Well I like it. I think its great. Rush is a whacko, and I accept that. I think the commander (colonel) and Eli are the top two actors, and the rest seem pretty darn good as well.

The ship is odd looking, but....! Its a new shape! Never been done. Doesnt look like its from any other movie..

Love the photography, those little hover photo balls, the interior of the ship, etc.

I'm lovin it.
