Need more stopping power on my DC3

OBIO

I am setting up a Smoke Jumpers station in GW3 by tweaking Idaho City USFS (U98) in Idaho...added a couple hangars, a few cabins for the brave fire fighters to sleep and eat in. Doing to eventually set up 3 more Smoke Jumpers stations around Idaho and have AI flights scouting for fires and flying from one station to another (that's the plan at any rate). Currently, I am in need of more stopping power on my DC3. Trees on both ends of the runways don't allow much room for over running the landing strip. I can ALMOST come to a stop before I hit the trees. How can I give the DC3 just a tad stronger braking system?

It's in the Brakes section of the aircraft.cfg

Be careful, too much and you'll end up on your nose with your tail in the air...

Willy

Which part of the Brake system specifically...and what the heck to I do to it to make the brakes stronger?

My Smoke Jumper DC-3 is loaded to within 20 pounds of its max gross weight...and a lot of that is gear that is stowed in the rear part of the plane...she is tail heavy..hopefully that will counter act some of the tendency to nose over.

Fiddle around with this line:

toe_brakes_scale = 0.7 //Brake scalar

Like Willy said, adjust carefully. Make small increases and test them.

Also remember that the old girl flies VERY slowly on approach.....70kts over the fence is not impossible.
Light 60kts will actually do just fine.
I almost ran into a C-53 at my home airport once in the Saratoga because I had figured a much higher final approach speed. Talking to the pilot of the old Douglas in the FBO he said he was actually upset with himself for going so fast :jump:

The airports that I am setting up as USFS Smoke Jumper bases are either surrounded by mountains and do not offer long open glide paths or have trees close to the ends of the runways....nice slow gentle approaches are not possible. Got to come in a bit hot, a bit steep and hope to stop before running into the forest on the other end of the strip.

PS: Sorry, hope you forgive me ...I couldn't resist it :icon_lol::icon_lol::icon_lol::icon_lol:

I did as Mick suggested, changed to .7, landed at 70 knots or less, used the brakes hard but pumped them and pulled back hard on the yoke to keep the tail down. Works for me.
