To see the rock increase the level of the DEM on the screen confifuracion / advanced configuration / image quality

But alas...it was. My scenery level was indeed set to "extremely dense," but somehow the DEM density level and the terrain complexity level were at the lowest settings.

A Personal Preference

There is one thing I would like to add. It is a personal preference of mine.
Adding the dem9 mesh through the Scenery Library of CFS2.
Sometimes this will come in handy when a problem arises. From the Library it can be turned on or off. An extra option to use if needed.
Adding from the scenery library meaning;
Place the 946190m.bgl and 947190m.bgl in a folder named Scenery. Then place the scenery folder into a new one 'example; Lod9 Gibral.
Put the Lod9 Gibral folder into Scenedb or where ever one stores files of this type.
Navigating to it activate or deactivate via the Scenery Library. Moving it up or down...
This has helped me on many occasions where conflicts were.
It is always good to have options. :ernae:

I was going to mention that. If you're using Rhumbaflappy's new watermasks and LOD mesh, you should not be using his older coast flattens. That will only cause problems, as Jean Bomber said.

Jean bomber....now that I have figured out the problem, allow me to compliment you and Dombral. This is truly an amazing job!
 
I will turn that off and delete it out of the library and see if that helps. Also, do you suggest I put Rhumba's mesh BEFORE the global exclude?
 
Yes. Sander's stuff will block whatever is placed below it, but only in the areas where his scenery exists. If you have Rhumbaflappy's older files placed above it, than that's likely why you're having interference problems.

I'm having GSL trouble. I've added JeanBomber's sceneries and they look great, but the added GSL scenery for Gibraltar, Ceuta and Oran doesn't show, despite the fact that when I add them the size of the main GSL file increases. I have tried removing them and reinstalling them several times and that seems to work given the increase/ decrease in the size of cfs2.gsl. When I start the sim, however, the buildings and infrastructure don't show up. Any ideas? is there an upper limit to the size of cfs2.gsl?

It seems that it's not only a gsl issue ,perhaps a wrong hierarchy position in the scenery library,in the first pic the gibraltar land and water masks( ROCK43_LC_3.bgl,ROCK43_WC_3.bgl) don't work....:isadizzy:
The Gibraltar40,Gibraltar43,Afnor_Bases sceneries folders must be placed to the top, the same level of any airbases addon ,and the Afnor_Scen will go to the bottom ,in the scenery library,upper than the mesh dem7 ,8 and R's watermasks ,if you use them.
About the cfs2gsl file size ....I don't know ???

Hmmm, I must be sillier than I thought. I've looked through the downloaded and added files but I can't find ROCK43_LC_3.bgl,ROCK43_WC_3.bgl. Were these in the Afnor scenery pack?

ROCK43 that could be too ROCK40 depend of the version you have actived ,these bgls are the masks land and water that cover the cfs2 map and in the first pic the cfs2 mask appear under the Gib harbor....
the ROCK(40)43_LC_3.bgl,ROCK(40)43_WC_3.bgl are on Gibraltar40\scenery or Gibraltar43\scenery ,that you have normally installed in their folders....
I think the problem is about an activation or a hierarchy level of the Gibraltar40 or 43 sceneries ,they can't work in the same time too....
,Oran is OK so the Afnor_scen and bases are active and OK .
Try to Reinstall the both Gib40 43 sceneries and reactive alternatively the versions.???
for the gsl try to add them in a virgin stock cfs2gsl file to see .....

OK, i have tried as hard as i could and i got the objects to show up and i have em all, but the rock is not working for me. I did copy the World/Textures to the main texture file for CFS2, but i am getting the squares of colour and buildings floating up in the air on the rock.

i will post my scenery order...i am NOT using Rhumbas new mesh but Sanders stuff and Rhumbas Old coastlines and waters...

i hope someone can help, i am at a loss what to do, i have moved the Afnor Scenery up and down, ditto the Gibraltar LOD9s....still got a big green loaf and squares.

i tried deleting ALL the sceneries i had, and re installing them all, via the Add Scenery function. I cant post my scenery cfg because it wont update ...after i added everyting back in the added sceneries are not showoing up on the list. but i have the basic stuff at the bottom, the AFnor scenery and the LOD9 and the other stuff higher up.

any suggestions are very welcome, i am giving up on this for now.

Have you put the SDC's "added texture" bmps in your ,...\cfs2\texture and in your...\cfs2\scenedb\world\texture.(step2) ?
I've made some polys with them and if they are not that gives a result like in yours pics ,anyway these green brown squares appear when a texture bmp is missing somewhere....

ok that worked mostly... but i stll have some texture problems with a strange paving texture on the side of the rock...and urban textures on the north side too... is there a suggested texture set to add as well for the general landscape, i seem to recall you suggested the summer season set, i thought i added them correctly i put them into a folder in the Scenedb folder and activated it, do i need to put them into the World/texture folder as well?

and i am not getting the full shoreline right yet...i have sanders mesh and rhumbas old coastline for Europe

perhaps the reason ..I use the Rhumba's cfs2 summer texture (cfs2su.zip) directly in my scenedb/world/texture so You could too ,if you don't want modif your scenedb/world/texture ,put these summer texture bmp in the Afnor_Scen/texture folder instead of active a new scenery ....that should work too by this way...

OK putting Rhumbas Summer into the World/texture and also into Afnor and Gibralter to be safe....i think i am still getting water where there should be land on the western point, and there is an urban texture on the side of the north side of teh rock that looks wrong? and when i take off from the start up field in Gibralter 40 there is no pavement or strip to take off from, just land.

I tried again, deleted all teh File.DAT files in the related sceneries, Afnor Bases, Afnor Scenery, Gibralter LOD (where i have the mesh bgls.) and moved the LOD up even above Sanders Global exclude, and put the Rhumba Summer Texture in all texture folders... and i am still getting water on the point and around the warehouses in the north harbour .... will study all the load scenery lists in this thread again...

I think i have more coast problems not just here...this was along to the west....i noticed the same problem..i may have too many coast bgls or conflicting ones.... i was trying to use Sanders but i also have Rhumbas old coasts and may have too many trying to compete...

I don't see too the rhumba's watermask( NP that can work without) and I don't see also the Afnor_bases scenery (???) in your scenery.cfg ...
I advice you to separe your cfs2 pacific, euro cfs2 and africa cfs2 ,make different install for these theatres for the planes the textures the sceneries and gsl that will be more clear
