Heat Sink

Ted

I bought the latest version Noctua NH-U12P.

I have a small issue that has kept from installing it.
Both the online instructions and the supplied instructions reference removing the protective cover at the bottom of the heat sink.

The only thing I have on the bottom of the heat sink is a very thin piece of metal that is the size of the sink. Is that what is they are talking about and if so how do you get it off? I was hesitate of prying it off.

Is it copper in color?

many times there is just a piece of plastic that covers the bottom to keep their cheap heat paste strip clean...I remove all of that and use Artic Silver compound.

Do you see the heat strip there, and can you touch it?

Then it seems that what you are seeing is the bottom of the heat sink. Just paste that and install as per directions

My pleasure...

remember...Go light and thin on the thermal paste....Any runover can hurt the CPU and Die !
