Mizoguchi models for FS9

Hello folks,

I'm wondering where I can find some of Mr. Mizoguchi's models converted for FS9. Flightsim has the BF-109, but I'm looking for some of the nicer Japanese models, chiefly the Shiden and Raiden - and any other outstanding models he's done.

many thanks,

dl

I have installed several of Akemi's CFS2 planes into FS9 and have had no problems with them. They fly just fine as is. I did have to add three lines to the the aircraft config file for each paint:

ui_manufacturer=XXXXXX
ui_type=XXXXXX
ui_variation=XXXXXX

Then if you want the plane to be called out by the ATC, you will need to add the following lines, more or less:

atc_id=XXXXXX
atc_heavy=XX
atc_airline=XX
atc_flight_number=XX

But I just added the lines in the first section.

Some of his older models may have the dreaded no-prop failure, but his more recent ones should show fully in FS9 with all animations intact.

Oh, if you want nav lights and such, you will have to add those as well via the [Lights] section of the aircraft config file of each plane.

I was noticing the other day that I still have his Ki-61 series in my "Still needs work folder". Were the config files for FS9 ever finished? I believe there was a thread here once upon a time.

I downloaded it last night - it seemed complete to me .... here's both models, ready to go...

Many thanks to all who posted here. Mr.Mizoguchi's planes certainly are some very nice models. I did not know that CFS2 aircraft can work in FS9.
Is it possible to install a vc light in these planes?

OOPS...sorry, I was using an effects file description from FSX in the new [lights] section. Changed it to one in FS9 and it works.

Not all CFS2 planes will work properly in FS2004. The earlier planes have issues with their props not showing up...same is true for early FS2002 planes as well. It has to do with the coding in the prop animation.

The good thing about FS9 and lights is that the lights do not need to be modeled into the aircraft.....they are true effects files. You can add VC lights, nav lights, beacons, strobes....every type of light you want to add to CFS2 planes. You simply need to copy a [LIGHTS] section from an existing FS2004 plane, paste it into the CFS2 plane's aircraft.cfg file and adjust the position of the lights.

which is REALLY FUN :- )

I added a dark red vc light to the Model 14 Lockheed last nite, and my night flying is very different...seems like I can see the instruments and clouds better.

A lot of military planes actually used red vc lights as the red light wave length did not destroy the crew's night vision.

You should try a green VC light...gives a plane an out of this world alien feel.

I'd like to find a decent D3A Val at some point. I have the standard model from CFS2 and I used Zero sounds in it for that healthy radial. It isnt bad but the cockpit sucks. I love to use the VC.

Is it safe to assume that the D3A in the link above is similar to the CFS3 version?

Akemi's VAl is sharp! All of his planes are sharp. The only thing about the planes that don't cut the mustard...and this is simply a personal taste thing...are the colors used in the VCs. I don't like pastely colors. And for sounds for these planes, hit the CFS2 sound library and stock up on Lawdog's sound packs....they rock!

I didn't mean that these weren't finished, and I hope nobody took it that way. Once upon a time after their release, there was a thread based on tweaks to make these fly better in FS9. I just wondered if those tweaks ever materialized.

These are excellent a/c, and with Morton's paints added, they are must haves in my opinion.

No worries - I thought you didn't know they were already released. They fly reasonably well to my view, but again, I'm the guy who knew nothing about these models a mere week ago. They are nice, aren't they? And Morton, well he turns nice into gorgeous.... :engel016:

Yes, these are nice planes. The only major problem I have had is with the C6N1. The Saiun vibrates terribly while on the ground. It's like the motor mounts are loose. Once the wheels leave the ground the plane flies well. Changes with contact points did not help (I do not understand "scrapes" very well).

What other possibilites can I look at?
