New FSX Computer

Just purchased an AMD Phenom x 4 2.8 ghx, 640 gb hdd, 6 gigs ddr3 memory, and replaced the stock ATI 4350 with my own ATI 4850 512 mb. Power Supply is 600 watt OCZ. I have finally brought FSX to its' knees. How about that? Aerosoft Manhattan and San Francisco used to bring my AMD X 2 5600 to its crawling, stuttering knees. But not anymore, those 2 Aerosoft scenery packages don't stand a chance anymore. With FPS locked at 30, screen resolution set 1440 x 900 (desktop resolution is the same) this computer simply blows FSX out of the air. Take that Microsoft. One thing that is was wandering is, would a GTX 260 give me even better framerates?

The 4850 is good for FSX..

The only thing with the 260 is their hit and miss drivers....

I run a 3850 on one computer with no problems in FSX..

Congrats Rewasiuk. It's nice seeing it all play out so smooth isn't it? Maybe wait for boxing day deals and see if you can get a GTX 275 for close to the price of a GTX 260.

I just replaced my E8400 DDR2 rig with an i5 DDR3 set up and wow, what a difference! US Cities X San Francisco and New Orleans are much smoother. I was able to add 50% airline and 50% GA traffic (from zero previously) and increase my LOD from 5.5 to 6.5 without loosing frames.

Going form dual to quad and ddr2 to ddr3 seems to make a huge difference. I'm still running the same 512MB 4850 until the 5870's are more availible or the next nVidia card comes along.

Now how does one come in saying how great his new system is and brings FSX to its knees. Talk about tease of all tease. Post some pics I would love to see my home town as well as San fran. Those addons killed my PC so I never got to see them all that good. Also can you shoot me an email at shylock@fsxblueangels.com I would like to see if your interested in a project of sorts.
