P-47 textures and another question

I have textures for the Alpha Sims payware P-47D. I know everyone has to make a living, I'm down to Confederate money and Russian rubles. Can these textures be adapted to one of the freeware P-47Ds? One is Soviet and two are captured P-47s in Gernan colors.

Some years ago Squadron Publications put out a book called Strangers In A Strange Land about captured US aircraft repaired and put back into test/observation service by the Germans. Any texture makers got any plans for doing any of these?

Thanks

Bones

Are these textures part of the package or from another source?

Seems we're having a bit of a Thunderbolt revival

These are separate textures for a payware plane. If I was smart enough to make my own missions and get the bomb release in basic MS CFS2 to work, I'd be more interested in the P-47 as a ground attack. What caught my eye(as the Israeli skins for the P-47-N over at simviation) was the Soviet skin and the two German skins for captured P-47s. I wish I could afford some of the payware planes.

These 3 skins can be found at:

There are a blue million freeware P-47s of all models, I wonder if these can be adapted for them.

Tonybones,

Alphasim has been most generous in the past with making their slow selling and older payware planes freeware. In fact, we have many of them in the library here.

I think the AS P-47 is currently about 17 US dollars, which is reasonable as you get two models (Razorback and Bubbletop) that work in CFS 2, FS 8 and FS 9. I'll bet it has the record for being in their catalog the longest of any plane that they've sold with perhaps the exception of the Stuka. It's been a stalwart in my hanger for several years.

By the way, my uncle flew P-47s in Europe early in his career so I've always been partial to the Jug.

Jugs are cool, I had several of the 1/32 Revell plastic models(razorback and bubble) and as early as 1969 Monogram had an excellent state of the art model in 1/48. I salute your uncle.

Unfortunately I am on Social Security Living Death(SSI) and you would not believe what a Tony Soprano I have to be to get by. I'll drop a hint here and there and see if I might get this plane for Xmas. Otherwise, I'll play with the textures and freeware planes. I'm a newbie buddy, I don't know jack about modifying these programs.

Yet.

Thanks Jagd, and Merry Xmas and Happy New Year to you.

Hi Jag,

Yes, I agree with you, the AS P-47s are still very good for their age and there's a pretty good selection of skins to be had for them, too. I have to give an honorable mention to the FDG2 P-47B (with the "walker pilot") and K. Malinkowski's.

Ever since see a trio of them at Thunder Over Michigan a couple of years ago, I've become a born-again jug lover!

I still love the true story of a Jug pilot that got all shot up by a German 109 or 190 over the channel. The canopy was all shot up, the engine was smoking. The pilot, (I have forgotten his name), could not bail because of the damage to the canopy, which would not slide back for him to get out. The German pilot had exhausted all of his ammo, and finally pulled up next to the Jug and waved at the US pilot, who then continued across the channel and safely landed his shot up P-47. They would absorb massive amounts of damage and keep on keeping on!
