The Aerosoft Beaver? FSX?

Hi Guys

I've been having a little fun with the FSX default Beaver. It's really not bad is it?

Just wondering if the Aerosoft version is any better?

Or was it designed for FS9 and just 'ramped up' a little for FSX?

Any feedback welcome.

It is a total rebuild from FS9 and the advantage is all the models included. Wheels, Tundras, floats, skis and amphibious. Be sure to get all the updates.

I don't have the Aerosoft Beaver, but I've been giving it a lot of thought. I like that it has several variants (amphibian, floats, wheels, ski/wheels, and tundra tires), where the default fsx one is just floats only. Honestly though, I've been torn between their Beaver and their Bush Hawk for quite a while now, but haven't pulled the trigger on either yet. I'm also very curious what owners of the Beaver have to say, especially if they can compare it to the Bush Hawk. :)

I love it. It beats the default FSX Beaver in many ways. Don't get me wrong, the default Beaver is very nice; but the Aerosoft version offers wheeled, tundra, amphibian, firefighter, ski, cropduster, and long range varieties. The VC and FD are better too, IMO. On my installation, it has easily twice the hours of any other aircraft.

The Bushhawk is very, very nice. However, it is a bit performance-heavy. It runs okay on my rig, but the Beaver gives me much better FPS, so I tend to fly it a lot more. In sum, Bushhawk is more eye candy and has some innovative atmospheric features, and Beaver offers more versatility and excellent performance. You really can't go wrong either way.

BTW, their Twin Otter and Catalina are both favorites of mine, as well.

Many thanks guys for such excellent feedback. I'd missed the review completely.

Oh dear, here goes another few quid.

I have many Aerosoft addons, including the Cat and the Twin Otter.

Think I'll ask for shares:wiggle::jump::wiggle::jump:

You won't regret it - the Beaver will put it's hand up for many flights! It was my first payware aircraft and it still gets out of the hanger a lot!
Enjoy!:applause::applause::applause:

I've been flying her since last Sunday(early present). I love it. I must have read that same review several times but, after I got the Beav , I only really needed to read it once. I'll be very happy with this one for a long time! :mixedsmi:

I have the Aerosoft Beaver for both FS9 and FSX, and recommend it highly. A great model of a truly classic aircraft, and that gurgling radial is music to the ears. Jim Hodkinson has done some pop-up panel mods for it, which are available at the Aerosoft forum's download link.

All in all, a great Christmas present to yourself.

Well, I added this bird to my hangar yesterday. Indeed, a great addon! Beautiful to fly with many subtle differences to the default flight model. I've been having a great time with her.

I'm a little disapointed by the lack of the Mk3. I guess that bird has completely differnt engine? I actually really the sound of the FSX default Beaver. Oh well, guess I can't have everything

I have both the Beaver and Bush Hawk, and can highly recommend them both. If your system isn't up to it the Bush Hawk can be hard on frame rates. However, on install, you are given the option to install some lower res. textures, to make it more friendly. I chose this option, and it still looks great.

Personally if I was in your position I would purchase the Bush Hawk, install Henry's repaints for the default Beaver and then purchase the Aerosoft Beaver a little down the line.

If not the aerosoft Beaver, the default one is still an excellent plane:

Although I don't own the Aerosoft pack, I am pretty sure that they made the default float version for the Aces Studio.

I can beat it.

Wait until you can't find a lake, river or the sea. You're... Oh. Bother. Wish you'd brought the Aerosoft one instead, yet? :d

They did not, they have nothing to do with the ACES one. The modelling was started by Andrey of SIB-Wings fame and finished by Tim Taylor.

Thanks
