Question of the Day (12-27-09)

Worse,I'm really worried for the grandkids. There not going to be many jobs left in the states, and were going to be owned by another country if something isn't done soon.

I am hoping that in 100 years from now, the Earth will be cleaner, a cure will exist for cancer and many other deadly diseases and that we will finally have Peace on Earth.

Oh, a much better place. I think by then everyone will have a video camera implanted in their forehead, then they'll have to play nice. Might be hard to pick your nose in private, tho.
Curt :bump:

I'm hoping that it will be better. However, I think there are going to be some tough times during my lifetime, especially in the mid-later part.

I guess that's all I want to say... don't want to make it a political debate. :monkies:

I hope mine didn't come across as political,it's just my thoughts, but I sure hope it's a better place.

Actually I suspect that the end times are upon us now. After that the future will indeed be unlike what we could ever have possibly fathomed.

There is a parable concerning the fig tree and it's fruit ripening and when. The answer to that will lend to a timeline of sorts.

Biblical prophecy appears to be fulfilled many times so far in our lifetimes alone yet you must know where to look! Not an expert by any stretch tho believe me...and yes I realize that the years prior to and surrounding the WWII era also had many who claimed much the same, as has been claimed various times in the last 2,000 years I suppose. Are we closer now is the question indeed.

Have faith and pray...and read, read, and read more as no man knows the hour...

Do you think the world will be a better or a worse place in 100 years from now?

If the major Abrahamic religions have anything to do with it then I have no doubt that the world will certainly be a worse place in 100 years. If, however, people can break away from dogma and superstition and start working collectively towards a better tomorrow then I see no reason why the world won't be a much better place in 100 years.

Thats a difficult question.

Right now, things are going downhill. A lot of children are being raised with no morals and values. Things like being taught to be a lady or a gentleman are almost gone. Values of respect for elderly people are disappearing. Things like holidays and family traditions are leaving us. Music like some street rap really do get into kids minds and tend to teach them ways and directions in their life, like programming, listening to that music over and over.

Our children will be the adults and parents of tomorrow. They are an extremely priceless asset of a country or planet for that matter. They will either put a country into a 1st world rank, or 3rd world rank. They will either put us on a planet, or put us into economic ruin or perhaps a devastating war.

I hope and pray things start getting better..

I guess you all know that we have 2 close calls with a giant asteroid in roughly 30 and 60 years from now. That too could change things quite a bit. In the scripture, it says we have a an asteroid strike in an ocean during this age. Fasten your seat belts..

Bill

I believe it will be a better place, but only if we make it one. Too many people spend time whining about how our children are lazy gluttons, have no morals, and how technology is the devil. I think time is better spent ignoring those who will have no impact on the world (i.e. the lazy slobs, and immoral heathens) and focusing on the bright young minds developing in a world of amazing opportunities. There is a wealth of technology at the fingertips of today's youth. Most of you guys and gals grew up with record players or cassette tapes, and look at you now! Listening to mp3's, modeling complex 3-dimensional aircraft on a compact, sleek computer. Not all children today are worthless bums, but the ones who are will have no lasting impact on the world.

100 years ago computers, the internet, space travel, a woman Prime Minister, a black President, American Idol - were all utterly inconceivable. It is just as inconceivable to try and imagine life 100 years from today. I have no doubts however that the general state of humanity was pretty much the same then as it is now - the good and the bad have been pretty constant since we came down from the trees. And every generation thinks things have never been so bad. My great grandparents were horrified by their children and grandchildren just as much as some of you are horrified by the children of today. Twas ever thus, yet somehow the world keeps turning!

When I start to worry too much about my current lot in life I usually find that thinking of how inconsequential my life and actions will seem 100 years from today always lifts my spirits.

Or to quote Frank Sinatra -

Hey don't save your kisses - just pass 'em around
You'll find my reason - is logically sound
Who's gonna know that you passed them around
A hundred years from today

And why crave a penthouse - that's fit for a queen
You're nearer heaven - on mamma Earth's green
If you had millions - what would they all mean
One hundred years from today

So (Hey) laugh and sing - make love the thing
Be happy while you may
('Cause) There's always one - beneath the sun
Who's bound to make you feel that way
The moon is shining - and that's a (very) good sign
Cling to me closer - say (that) you'll be mine
Remember baby we won't see it shine
A hundred years from today, a hundred years from today

Oh, I'm hopeful for the best. If we've raised our kids to be strong and just and fair, they'll do the right thing at the right time. Events may overtake the years, but we've survived darker times before and emerged that much stronger having gone through them.

Besides, maybe we'll get those flying cars we've been promised all these years......:icon_lol:

Bill, don't sweat the asteroids....we've got Bruce Willis !!!:icon_lol:

Bill your post stirred my memory from 30 some odd years ago when my first son was born. My Grandfather simply told me that whether I realized it or not that I was raising my children's children!

It didn't sink in back then being 20 something but years later when I had some more wisdom built on experience I realized exactly what he meant. And of course I did pass this on to my 5 kids and I saw the same looks that I'm sure I showed when I was told! I only hope they remember it as I have.

My Grandmother also told me about this same time; you owe your children the very best upbringing that you can give to each of them and a set of wings!

He also told me something else; anytime you get too big for your britches go stand in the ocean! Yeah that will work alright (and has from time to time believe me)!

So it's up to us, the parents, to teach their children and overcome ALL the crap from school, teachers, friends, tv and cd, dvd etc...the work has been cut out for all of us so to speak. So far all of my children (3 sons, 2 daughters) have been involved in the military from a nuke engineer on a sub, a SEAL and three who are or were Air Force ROTC. No father is prouder I assure you...especially considering what ALL kids are up against nowadays.

5 Flags for them

i completely agree with this, unpopular though it may be. one of the important sign posts that lets us know where we are on the time line is that israel is indeed a nation. when you count the years since that day, you know approximately how much time we have left, according to the bible. i'm watchin. i won't say more, to avoid hijacking the thread.

“No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.”
