Win 7 Question

Right now I'm still running the Windows7 Evaluation Copy - Build 7100. What do I need to go to when I purchase the real deal, the "Home Edition" or the "Pro Edition"?

Your evaluation copy is the top of the line "Ulitmate" edition.

The closest thing to that if you don't want that full blown version is the "Professional" edition.

Those two version are the only ones that give you access to the Windows XP Mode in case you need to insure backwards compatibility.

None of the "Home" versions give you that option.

I just got Win 7 Ultimate. Pro was $440 AUD and ultimate was $470 AUD, so I thought what's 30 bucks?!?
Nice thing is you get both 32bit and 64bit disks in the non-OEM version, but it hurts the pocket.

There is also a link pointed at "upgrading" from the release candidate to the final, for now, version.

I'm using Ultimate because I have family in Japan and needed the language features and wanted the security piece.

Home Premium if you don't need domain join, XP Mode, Windows Backup, BitLocker or language packs
Professional if you don't need language packs or BitLocker
