RCS B-25J for FSX

It looks like they're also going to release a USAAF livery for this freeware gem in the next few weeks! A Doolittle Raiders paint would be awesome! I love flying this airplane and was hoping that Roy would release a US version! :applause:

It is a B25 from 320 Dutch squadron which flew with the RAF, when the Germans were temporarily using the Dutch airfields.

As the Dutch actually paid for these aircrafts, I think you can consider them genuine Dutch. However the RAF insisted that all "foreign" squadrons inside the RAF used the UK roundels. These B-25 can be recognised as Dutch by the small orange triangle, which was the Dutch national marking in this theatre of war during this period.

The "foreign" aircrafts in the RAAF were allowed to use their own national markings. Therefore the Dutch B-25 and P-40s in the Pacific, used the Dutch National flag as nationality markings.

Unfortunately, especially fairly on in the war, people in this country had a pretty poor to non-existent grasp of equipment and markings recognition. Many US aircraft also wore partial RAF markings when operating around the UK and in co-ordination with UK forces. Whether it helped reduce the number of what we'd now call "blue on blue" incidents is questionable, but at least people tended to stop shooting when the aircraft's evasive manoeuvre revealed an RAF roundel!

We had the same problem at ground level, just for the record... I still have my maternal grandfather's tank recognition guide (he was an artilleryman) somewhere around in a box.

The B-25 was moved inside a new building a few years ago and now has a new location inside the large hall that houses the liberty collection. It has been repainted but still needs a bit of work to repair all the damage sustained from being outside for decades.

Great museum btw, really worth the long drive!

I have been there a (very) long time ago. It made me sad to see all this historical material just rusting away.

But when I look at you pictures, I might make the long drive again.....

Huub, there are now over 300+ vehicles added in a new hall that came from a private collection. Almost everything has been moved inside and fixed up.

Should you decide to go there, let me know. It's been a few years for me too.
