Kodiak: disable alert on G1000...?

Anyone knows if it is possible to disable the Alert on the MFD in the Kodiak? It's driving me crazy because it flashes every 10 seconds or so all the time... If it can't be disabled from within FSX, maybe there is a way to hack some files and KILL it...? :salute:

Something completely different: there doesn't seem to be any ETA info in the G1000...? Even the simple default GPS has that! Am I missing an option?

What's the alert? Is it telling you something important?

The Time to Next Waypoint is on the top of the MFD.

It is telling me I am near or in or close to a controlled airspace or something like that. I couldn't care less and that Alert light (at the bottom right of the MFD is annoying me... On the default GPS you can simply disable the alert by pressing the button a few times.

Time to next wp on the MFD...? How could I have missed that... But there is no ETA (time to the final airport)?
 
J van E, in the real world, if you go where you aren't cleared, at best you are going to walk for a while (get your certificate suspended), at worst, you will meet some new friends in F-15s or F-16s that could mess up your whole day.

The Lionhart G1000s ride on the standard FSX Garmin database. So all you are seeing is what your would see on the standard GPS, re-expressed. To me, Lionhart's G1000s are near the top of the list for getting as close to the real thing as you can get short of spending a lot more money than you would want to.

In the real G1000's in the C172s I fly, the number at the top of the MFD is ETE, Estimated Time In Route. I think if I dig down in the pages, there is a place to see ETA, but since the current time is at the bottom right corner of the PFD, a little quick math will give you the ETA, assuming nothing changes, like speed.

No wonder Bill is fed up! All you need J van E is a real Kodiac and then you can argue with them.
 
Haha, I know about the real world, but on my computer it is MY world and I don't like the alert so I want it gone, period, haha! :jump: But hey, it's no big problem: I love the Kodiak (this weekend I officially declared it my best GA ever!) but I just thought that maybe was a simple way to stop the alert: sometimes it keeps on flashing even when I press the button and that window is open!

Sorry, I was at the hospital with a family member most of the day, had a family member visit afterwards, and took a quick nappie. Just checking the forum now.

Eeeks.. This is the stock setting for the actual FS GPS 'alert' flasher.

It shouldnt make a noise. If its making a noise, then you have a soundpack addon that causes this, attached to a flag. In the Kodiak, there is no sound attached, only the flashing font. The single 'alert' word shouldnt be annoying. But if you added a soundpack (I think there are a couple now out there that have flags that they 'activate' with) then you are talking about that, not the Kodiak.


If I can help, I'll certainly do my best, but if its a soundpack addon, I am lost as I seem to not have it.

Er... thanks, but I read the Kodiak manual and it didn't help (otherwise I wouldn't have asked). :icon_lol: The other links don't help me either, so I don't really know what I should do with those...? (The Kodiak G1000 is different from the FSX G1000 and completely different from the original Garmin one...) If you can find the answer to my question in those links, please let me know! :jump:

Er... I think it is... sorry! Haha! :icon_lol: I am not talking about sounds, but indeed that flashing Alert sign. Again, it's no big problem, but I thought there might be a simple way of turning it off, like on the default GPS. I look at the G1000-screens all the time while flying and almost all the time that Alert is flashing... I will have to make a habit of it to NOT press on it anymore and just accept it will be flashing all the time... (Pressing on it doesn't help because there will be another alert within no time.)

And btw I fully agree with cheezyflier!!! :applause: :applause: :applause:

I had no idea you could do that! I see the flashing 'alert' message all the time (regardless of the aircraft I'm flying in) and have gotten to the point where I just ignore it (I do try to stay out of restricted airspace, but the alert seems to pop up whenever I'm within about 10 miles of any restricted airspace, which, at least when flying around in Florida, is an almost constant flashing alert message lol.)
