Some addon-planes come whith havy enginesound, tower+ AC can't be watched! Think it can be reduced in SOUND/CFG-files, but where+how exactly? Who is "superfilist" knows a way:ques:.

I'm not sure how it can be turned down in the .cfg files, but you can easily reduce the volume of engines in the FSX sound settings.

Hi
3 ways ...ok there more but ill stick to 3 :)
1: FSX options and drop the engine sounds in relation to the radio sounds
2: start menu~ programs ~accessories~entertaiment~sound recorder open the wav files in that then effects tab and you can decrees the volume
by 25% steps
3: open the aircrafts sound.cfg and find the sounds you want to lower the volume for
you will see 2 sets of numbers 1 set
rparams=0.000000,0.595000, 0.470000,1.110000
which is the speed modifier for the sound file,both rparams and vparams are made up of 2 sets of numbers so the first set0.000000,0.595000 denotes at 0 throttle sound is played at .59 or 1/2 speed,next set of numbers, 0.470000,1.110000 denote at .47 % of throttle sound file is played at 1.11 times the speed ...ie faster

the next set vprams work the same but control volume (which is what you want to change :) )
vparams=0.010000,0.000000, 0.032000,4.600000, 0.051000,55.800000, 0.197000,56.200000, 0.243000,11.000000,0.329000,0.000000,1.000000,0.000000,1.000000,0.000000
and as above first number of each set is throttle percent and the second is volume.....
so in the above at 0.010000,0.000000 the sound is muted next set 0.032000,4.600000 the sound is 4.6,so lets say 4.6 percent of the actual sound recorded volume(its a little more complicated but thinking in percent for both works fine for ball park stuff) you will noitce that at ,0.329000, 0.000000 the sound is muted,this is because the next sound entry will start getting louder just before the 0.329000 is reached in the entry above it.....confused yet?.. so you will need to edit each wav file entry so the blend/mix of sounds is maintained at the same rate but a lower volume .....fun hey......well you asked :D

Thanks Wozza, that's it! Didn't change ALL entries like "start, burst, reverse a.s.o.---too much work--. Flights are more convenient now,:salute:

It never ceases to amaze me just how much "stuff" you can learn about FSX. If I was younger, I would find some college where I could get a PhD is FSX.

Boy could I impress people after that. :jump:

PMSL I can tell you nobody ever gets impressed. ppl Ive talked to either just roll their eyes and walk away or play polite aha aha game,then you see them later pointing in your direction making circles with their other index finger around the ear location :D

Ive dreamed of the day when someone at a party ask me what I do for fun and when I tell them they
A: know what Im talking about
B: are avid flightsimmers
C: have downloaded some of my work
